As Operations Manager, you should be capable of:

  • Planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of the Operations department including development and implementation of strategies that optimize production and reduce costs.
  • Establishing, planning, and administering the overall policies and goals for the department. 
  • Ensuring all products are manufactured to the appropriate quality standards on the expected schedule and for the planned cost.
  • Ensuring the necessary coordination and direction is given to the production supervisors, production coordinators and production operators to meet customers’ expectations
  • Ensuring the production schedule is developed and maintained to deliver quality products on time
  • Monitoring key performance indicators and provide input, analysis and corrective actions to KPI and operations meetings
  • Supporting continuous improvement, prevention of defects, and lean manufacturing / Six Sigma concepts to ensure the most cost-effective manufacturing methods are deployed
  • Supporting quality initiatives including root cause analysis, development of corrective actions and implementation of changes relating to production non-conformances as well as field returns
  • Promoting the concept of individual responsibility for product excellence
  • Providing leadership for and development of direct reports by establishing priorities, accountabilities and allocating resources: guiding achievement of performance measures
  • Providing recommendations for specific departmental goals, objectives, and action plans to support facility goals and schedules
  • Participating in development of strategic plans to support the future direction of department
  • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment through leadership of the safety committee
  • Creating a positive work environment and set the standard for interdepartmental cooperation
  • Encouraging timeliness, decisiveness, and clarity within department that assure actions are appropriate to meet goals
  • Providing input for recruiting, selection, compensation, promotions, disciplinary actions, terminations, and transfers
  • Completing weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to management

 

Applicants should possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Expert knowledge of PCBA, electromechanical, and wire and cable manufacturing processes
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement in existing manufacturing methods
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, ISO standards, and IPC standards
  • Intermediate level in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook); MRP/ERP 
  • Ability to work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail to produce quality results
  • Strong planning and organizational skills including the ability to initiate, prioritize, and allocate resources 
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate in all forms with others inside and outside the organization
  • Ability to negotiate and manage conflict tactfully and professionally 
  • Strong leadership and people management skills including team building, mentoring, and coaching
  • Strong decision-making skills; utilizing sound judgement and thorough processes 
  • Ability to problem solve issues involving multiple variables and limited standardization
  • Ability to be creative and innovative with approaches to solutions and solving complex problems
  • Ability to efficiently multitask while effectively managing a heavy workload

All applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in a related technical field (Engineering preferred) and 7 years of progressive relevant experience with 5 years supervisory experience in a high-mix, medium-volume EMS (Electronics Manufactuing Services) environment including project management, planning, budgeting, allocation of resources, and management in an ISO environment.
