Job Overview:

POSITION PURPOSE:

Responsible for creating a dynamic production plan/system for Forpak, managing the plan, and upholding the production schedule to ensure the projects are completed to the job specifications within the established time frame. Responsible for coordinating the installation of the completed projects. Provide direction and guidance to employeesboth in the shop and design departments

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  • Create and maintain the MASTER Schedule for the business, including all aspects of the process – administration, engineering, design, purchasing, welding, assembly, wiring, testing, FAT, and installation.
  • Utilize project management software (MS Project, SmartSheets, etc. to maintain the MASTER schedule. 
  • Create weekly production reports using software to report on the workflow throughout the building processes.
  • Keep managers informed of important developments, potential problems, and time-related information necessary to meet job deadlines.
  • Facilitate bi-weekly meetings to provide ongoing work direction and guidance to staff to ensure a full understanding of the building process related to their function. 
  • Establish continuous communication with the customer, vendors, OS contractors, Forpak staff, and management. 
  • Work closely with the staff to respond promptly and effectively to customer job inquiries, specifications, action items, and timelines.
  • Conduct timely design reviews with the design department and responsible shop staff.
  • Coordinate outside contractors, i.e. design, wiring, programming, etc.
  • Direct troubleshooting on the shop floor with shop staff and designers to solve assembly challenges during the building process.
  • Review provided spare parts lists for accuracy of part numbers and quantities.
  • Provide backup to schedule courier and freight shipments as needed.
  • Oversee the disposal of surplus material, components, and scrap.
  • Responsible for consistently finding ways to improve scheduling and processes. 
  • Consistently review staffing needs and equipment to determine where to make enhancements.
  • The following items will be measured for the overall effectiveness of this position:
    • Quality – First pass yield will include the number of times we pass the FAT on the first time.
    • OTD – deliver the projects on time when promised per the proposal lead time.
    • Cost management – material waste and labor efficiency.
  • Assist in other areas as directed by the General Manager. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required, with related work experience.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Technical background with computer literacy using project management software and Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn software platforms needed for the position. 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 5 years minimum as an original equipment manufacturer production manager.

SKILLS ABILITIES: Strong problem-solving skills, analytic ability, detail-oriented, and strong project management skills. Excellent oral, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to motivate employees both during staff meetings and on the assembly floor.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Lift up to 25 - 30 pounds.

LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to understand and follow instructions in English.

TRAVEL: Limited but may travel to customer locations for site reviews, as needed (5%).
