What You’ll Do

As the Operations Manager, you will have the opportunity to lead our Frederick, MD Operations teams with a focus on safety, continuous improvement, communication, plan and align priorities and leading others to provide an exceptional Metrie experience for our customers. This role reports to the Regional Operations Manager for the US Atlantic region.

As the Operations Manager, we need your in-depth knowledge of operational excellence, developing teams and customer focus to:

  • Oversee and guide day-to-day operations across multiple shifts for the Pro and Retail teams, including warehousing, shipping, receiving, inventory control, and facility maintenance, ensuring alignment with regional and corporate objectives.
  • Set clear expectations for branch Operations leadership teams, monitor performance against KPIs, and implement strategies to achieve operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and manage branch budgets in partnership with the Regional Operations Manager; regularly review financial performance, identify variances, and implement corrective actions to meet targets
  • Ensure location maintains compliance with local, state/provincial, and federal regulations; lead safety programs, training, and audits to foster a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Lead workforce planning, onboarding, and performance management for Supervisors; identify and develop high-potential talent for leadership roles and future growth opportunities.
  • Partner with Sales, Procurement, and Operations Excellence teams to align operational capabilities with customer needs, support new product introductions, and deliver cost-effective solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers and third-party vendors; provide input in agreements to ensure operational efficiency and cost control.
  • Champion Lean/Kaizen projects, standardize best practices, and implement process improvements that enhance productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee inventory accuracy through cycle counts and physical audits; ensure proper maintenance of facilities, equipment, and assets to support operational reliability.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive work environment that reflects company values, drives employee engagement, and fosters collaboration across branches.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state/provincial and federal laws and regulations related to people, operations, safety, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or equivalent of 10+ years of progressive Operations leadership experience
  • Experience leading multi-shift operations—responsibility for large teams, budgets, and performance outcomes
  • Deep expertise in warehousing, logistics, transportation, and end-to-end supply chain management, with the ability to implement strategies that drive efficiency and scalability
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence others, foster collaboration, and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in driving operational excellence and change management, including process optimization, performance improvement, and adoption of best practices
  • Experience in talent management, including workforce planning, leadership development, and managing employee relations issues
  • Proficiency in LEAN methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives, with the ability to lead projects and prioritize competing demands in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with SAP and/or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) strongly preferred
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to analyze key performance metrics such as inventory, labor costs, and operational efficiency
  • Industry knowledge of millwork and/or Metrie products and services is an asset

In adherence to the principle of pay transparency, we are pleased to disclose the base pay for this full- time position at Metrie. The base pay range for this role starts at $100,000 - $115,000/year. It is important to note that this position may also qualify for discretionary bonuses or commission payments. The specific base pay within the range will be contingent upon an individual's skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location. Furthermore, it is essential to highlight that our remuneration ranges are established based on the role, level, and location.
