Position Summary:
The Operations Manager will plan, direct, and coordinate the production activities of the plant.
Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:
- The Operations Manager is accountable for inspiring and executing strategies which achieve optimum safety, quality, service, productivity, and profitability.
- Develop and Advance initiatives that promote and improve the safety, health, security, and welfare of all employees.
- Maintain and drive safe, clean, orderly (5s), and environmentally compliant production operations.
- Follow and Enforce GMP’s in compliance with all food safety requirements.
- Inclusive oversight of all production and production support activities of the facility ensuring all are conducted in accordance with Company policies, principles, procedures, values, and standards.
- Effectively assess, mentor and coach direct reports to ensure optimum performance.
- Provide technical recommendations and implementation for continuous improvement in plant production process.
- Proactively conference and collaborate with customers, sales, and internal/external support resources to evaluate, develop, and promote strategies designed to improve service, flow, quality, and product value.
- Execute supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Responsible and accountable for Operations Metrics to include Turn-over, Service, Quality, Cost, OEE, Waste.
- Willingly undertake and perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
- Will have supervisors and lead personnel as well as the hourly production workforce as direct reports.
Candidate Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree, or a combination of continuing education and experience.
- Continuous Improvement or Black Belt Certification is a plus.
- Experience leading change in a Union environment.
- A minimum of 5-7 years of related experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated evidence of implementing or utilizing TQM, Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma processes and methodologies to drive improvement in cost, productivity, or profitability.
- Experience with SQF or ISO within a manufacturing environment
- Proven technical leadership with the ability to utilize structured problem-solving methods to deliver results.
- Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with the willingness and ability to learn new systems.
