Position Summary
The Operations Manager is responsible for the plant operations, annual budget planning and execution, capital improvements, facility/physical plant up-keep and providing a safe working environment. Support product sales and marketing plan with day-to-day facility operations to safeguard quality and customer satisfaction. Works closely with team members to improve productivity and profitability.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Define and prioritize operational goals and objectives and manage the business to meet operating plan and corporate goals. Drive improvement of key performance metrics as determined each year.
- Lead the team of functional leaders in solving specific challenges and overcoming roadblocks, when necessary, to improve effectiveness and productivity in the business.
- Perform planning and production tasks, anticipate program needs, and expedite material and tool requirements for production, manufacturing and assembly operations.
- Schedule production factoring in work orders, maintenance, new product development, inventory availability and capacity planning, follow up and research abilities, schedules and coordinates flow of work within or between departments.
- Drive and support the preparation for reporting monthly metrics and meetings. Drive goal setting and monthly action plans for functional areas of responsibility.
- Enhance the culture of exceptional customer service and 100% on time delivery.
- Lead the operations team to benchmark processes and continuously improve operational, quality and lean initiatives with employee engagement.
- Drive internal communication strategies to keep employees informed about company progress, news, achievements increasing their business awareness and knowledge.
- Direct the identification, evaluation and resolution of operational, logistics, and performance issues.
- Be the Safety advocate for the business and build a ‘safety first’ culture in the organization. In working with the corporate resources, institute systems, processes and metrics to track and develop the best in class ‘safe workplace’ for our employees.
- Adheres to company Quality Management System policies and procedures to ensure product quality.
Experience and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or other technical field, Master’s degree preferred.
- Six to ten years’ progressive manufacturing leadership experience, preferably in a machining business.
- Demonstrates success utilizing principles and practices of continuous improvement: waste elimination, quality, and process control, 5S, standard work and Lean principles in functional areas.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate, organize, plan, and execute.
- Ability to lead with empathy, inspire people and create a collaborative ‘high performance’ culture.
- Ability to manage conflicts and resolve them quickly.
- Active listening and strong decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in MS office products as well as ERP/MRP system.
