The Operation Development Associate will participate in two-year rotational development program focused on developing operational knowledge in four distinct operational disciplines. The rotational assignments will occur in 4 separate four month rotations and each rotation end with completing and presenting an assigned project objective. This position will ultimately report to the Operations Manager but will be directed daily by the assigned functional champion while in each four month rotations. Each rotation will require the completion of a pre-determine functional project during the final 30 days of the rotational assignment.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES |
- Rotational assignments will occur in the following functional areas for specific development:
- First Line Supervision – Standard Work, Performance Management, Daily Communications (using GEMBA methodologies), Visual Metrics, Performance Expectations and Takt boards Review, Maintenance of 6S, KanBan, and contamination control Programs, Safety/JHA reviews.
- Manufacturing Engineering – Capital project – development, approval, implementation; Equipment Maintenance & Upgrades; Time Studies and Capacity Planning Support; Production & BOM Routing Support; Cost Savings Projects; Process Optimization; Work Cell Layouts; Manufacturing Practice Updates, JHA evaluations
- Lean/CI – Visual Factory Development; Program audits and improvements – Pull System, 6S Program, OEE Program Standard Work Development, CI team support & Pareto Analysis, Kaizen Board Review; Kaizen Event – Preparation, Facilitation, and Implementation; Cycle Time Reduction & VSM Projects; Problem Solving Facilitation – 5 Why and 8D Sessions
- Quality/Test Engineering – DPM reduction; Statistical Process Control, Supplier Quality and Material Specification; Value Engineering projects, DFM Projects; FMEA reviews, Failure Analysis, Test process optimization, Technical Troubleshooting
- Planning – Production scheduling – Understanding master scheduling through department planning as dictated by department capacity planning. Material purchasing and sourcing based on master schedule and planning cycles to ensure on-time material availability.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES |
- Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, and Excel) are required. MS Project and Access is preferred.
- Individual should be self-motivated and able to work independently or with a team.
- Must be able to work multiple projects concurrently, using strong organizational and planning skills.
- Requires strong ability to stay focused and resourcefulness to know where/how to get the information needed for the projects assigned.
- Good interpersonal skills, as well as excellent communication skills, are necessary to present project information to the management staff and to sale the recommendation for change or improvement.
- Good judgement and discretion is necessary when working with confidential information.
- Must be able to work well with all levels of employees using fair and non-discriminating attitudes and practices
- Must be willing to work off-shift, if required.
Required Education /Experience:
- BS degree in a technically focused degree program (i.e. Engineering, Operations Management)
Preferred Education / Experience:
- BS Degree in an Engineering discipline
- This role is focused on a post college graduate, early career candidate
- Previous Co-op or Internship experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
