Job Overview:

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Partner directly with production teams to collect, validate, and analyze manufacturing data

  • Convert production data (Excel, SAP, internal systems) into structured databases for reporting and tracking

  • Develop and maintain automated tools (VBA, Python, Copilot) to support production reporting and workflows

  • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly production reports (e.g., output, downtime, yield, scrap)

  • Support real-time decision-making by providing clear, actionable data to supervisors and team leads

  • Identify process improvement opportunities based on data trends and collaborate with operations to implement solutions

  • Assist with SAP transactions and data integrity for production-related activities

  • Create simple dashboards or tools for operators and supervisors to easily view key metrics

  • Support cross-functional projects aimed at improving production efficiency, safety, or quality

  • Present findings and recommendations in a clear, practical way for production teams

Education & Experience

  • Associates in Computer Science, Minor in Data Science

  • Experience working in or supporting a manufacturing or production environment preferred 

  • Basic experience with programming or data tools required

     

Skills & Other Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Python, VBA, or similar tools used for automation and data analysis

  • Familiarity with manufacturing systems (SAP or similar ERP systems)

  • Understanding of production metrics (throughput, scrap, downtime, labor efficiency)

  • Ability to translate complex data into simple, easy-to-understand insights for production teams

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on practical, shop-floor solutions

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment

  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical employees

  • Team-oriented with the ability to support operators, supervisors, and engineers

Working Conditions

  • Combination of desk work and time spent on the production floor

  • Regular interaction with manufacturing equipment and operational processes

  • Must follow all site safety, environmental, and health requirements while on the floor.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work on a computer for extended periods and move throughout the production area

  • Occasional lifting of materials up to 20 pounds 

  • Ability to communicate clearly with team members in both office and production settings.

Safety Requirements

  • All employees are required to attend scheduled training, follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corporate EHS standards.  This includes the use of proper protective equipment (PPE) as required by the job responsibilities.
  • Managers will ensure that all safety and environmental procedures are followed consistently.  They will ensure that risk assessments are performed, proper training, work instructions, required PPE is available, and will monitor compliance.

Quality & Environmental Responsibilities

Depending on location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of the ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 and/or other applicable standards that may apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
