Operating Engineer – JLL

What this job involves:

As an Operating Engineer at JLL, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliable operation, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of facility systems. This role emphasizes technical expertise in one area—such as Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, or Central Utility Plant Operations—while also requiring broad multi-skill proficiency to efficiently resolve issues and support the facility’s smooth operations. You will leverage your hands-on skills to contribute to a safe, efficient, and high-performing environment, directly impacting the satisfaction of our clients and the success of JLL’s workplace solutions. What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of facility equipment across all mechanical and utility systems.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance, monitoring, and repairs to Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Fire, Life Safety, Control, and Furniture systems.
  • Clean, inspect, calibrate, and replace HVAC system components to maintain optimal equipment performance.
  • Monitor and record equipment readings, making necessary adjustments for operational efficiency.
  • Maintain responsibility for facility services, preventative maintenance, purchasing, inventory control, and coordination with contractors.
  • Review monthly client service request summaries to identify and address recurring issues.
  • Ensure the proper storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials; maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Two years of trades schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration, or HVAC.
  • Certification as a Universal Technician for CFC’s (or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment).
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and correct operational issues in various facility systems.
  • Proficiency in preventive maintenance and technical repair practices.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols related to hazardous materials.
  • Ability to read equipment readings and perform necessary system adjustments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with purchasing, inventory control, and vendor management.
  • Familiarity with evaluating contractor performance and maintenance quality.
  • Basic skills in monitoring and reporting on system performance and operational issues.
  • Knowledge of general workplace safety and compliance standards.
  • Experience coordinating services and maintenance among multiple contractors.
  • Comfort with reviewing and verifying deliveries (count, pricing, and descriptions).
  • Basic computer skills for facility management systems and reporting.

Work Shift: 1st Shift

This position does not provide visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Estimated compensation for this position:

70,000.00 – 77,000.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
