BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Occupational Safety Specialist to support at its site in Radford, Virginia. In this role, the Senior Safety Specialist supports the site's Safety programs.

Included responsibilities:

• Demonstrates a strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations.
• Works hand-in-hand with the operating units and maintenance to achieve 100% compliance.
• Pro-actively identifies safety issues.
• Strives to minimize recordable injury rates by closely working with the SHE department and the entire Radford site.
• Works with a variety of safety related programs (LO/TO, Confined Space, hotwork, electrical, guarding, walking surfaces, risk assessment, DoD Regs for ARMY Contractors, etc.) and helps disseminate the knowledge to the Radford team.

Note: This position supports 100% on site. 
 

Typical Education and Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

• Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in a Safety related discipline with four (4) years of related experience, or the overall equivalent experience.
• Well versed in safety regulations, particularly OSHA.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to effectively disseminate information to a diverse population of employees.
• Computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite.
• Able to support on-site, "boots on the ground."

 

Preferred Skills and Education

• Prefer CSP. 
• Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment a plus!
