Job Overview:

Position Summary:

In conjunction with IT, the Network Technician will install and decommission networks at new facilities, and manage CCTV, access control, and security systems for established facilities. May trace cables and wires, research systems and perform trouble-shooting activities. The Network Technician must be comfortable with using a lift and working at heights

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Will install, test, or repair CAT5/6 and fiber optic cable and network systems.
  • Perform network maintenance as requested and necessary.
  • Forklift and scissor/boom lift certification preferred, or willingness to acquire within first year of employment.
  • Test electrical circuits or components.
  • Assemble and/or install electrical components, subsystems, CCTV systems, cameras, and security systems.
  • Perform site surveys and review scope of work to determine necessary tools, equipment or materials needed.
  • Install programs onto computer or computer-controlled equipment.
  • Collaborates and communicates with the Help Desk and other IT Teams regarding tickets, project progress, and assigned tasks when not traveling.

Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, and Education):

  • Associate degree in computer-related technology. Two (2) years’ direct experience may be considered in lieu of degree. 
  • Experience installing testing and repairing or replacing CAT5/6 cable or fiber optic cable. 
  • Working knowledge of basic network architecture, including firewalls, switches, and access points. 
  • 1 year experience with CCTV systems, NVR’s, cameras, and installation. Experience with Eagle Eye systems highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of VLANs and wireless technology.
  • 1 year experience with access control systems – Kantech and Brivo experience desired.
  • Basic understanding of security systems – Keypass knowledge preferred.
  • Able to operate a scissor or boom lift and be willing to become forklift certified (MEI provided)
  • Perform work at heights of up to 75 feet working from a lift, during inclement weather conditions.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Meraki network hardware, including Meraki Management Dashboard.
  • Understanding of Azure Active Directory.
  • Experience with VOIP systems, installation, and setup highly preferred.
  • Ability to read & interpret technical information.
  • Interpret blueprints, specifications, or diagrams relating to electrical, closed-circuit, or security systems.
  • Able to travel on short notice. Travel may be for one or two weeks at a time; approximately 50% of work.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Must be able to lift, carry, and/or move items up to 100 lbs. Will use fingers, hands, and arms for installing, positioning, or moving components. This job can be physical and requires hands-on work. May bend, reach, stretch, climb, or crawl on occasion. May work outdoors with exposure to uneven terrain and inclement weather. Frequent use of computer, keyboard, and mouse. May involve extended time sitting or standing.
