If so, The Dean of Students Office (DSO) with Iowa State University is currently accepting applicants for a National Student Exchange Coordinator! We are seeking a motivated and student-focused individual to support student engagement in study away opportunities through the National Student Exchange (NSE) program. This position will be classified as a Student Services Specialist I.
Under the supervision of the director, this individual plays a key role in guiding students through the entire study away process—including program promotion, outreach, individual advising, interviews, placement, pre-departure support, and return to campus. This position also helps welcome and orient incoming NSE students from partner institutions across the consortium.
Additionally, they will be responsible for hiring, training, and managing a small team of undergraduate ambassadors who assist with outreach and program promotion.
What You'll Do:
Meet with prospective outgoing NSE students and advise them on program requirements and campus selection.
Manage NSE application portal, conduct interviews, and accept qualified applicants.
Plan and execute pre-departure events to prepare outgoing students for exchange.
Support incoming students by helping them with the application process, answering questions, and providing necessary referrals.
Plan and coordinate incoming student orientation.
Facilitate experiential programming for incoming NSE students.
Develop holistic advising/support check-ins for incoming students to help them adjust to ISU, access campus resources, and feel supported.
Coordinate marketing, promotion, and outreach activities such as conducting presentations, creating social media content, etc.
Maintain the NSE Student Ambassador program by recruiting, hiring, training, and scheduling hourly NSE student ambassadors.
Assist with assessment of the program through focus groups, surveys, and other projects.
This is a five-year, fixed term position with the opportunity for renewal.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.
