THE OPPORTUNITY

Pro Services Workforce Solutions has partnered with an aerospace investment casting facility that supplies jet engine components to some of the most trusted names in aerospace to fill this contract opportunity for a Maintenance Technician II in La Porte, IN.

You'll be a Pro Services employee working onsite as part of the customer's maintenance team. This is a multicraft role, and the team is specifically looking for techs who can troubleshoot electrical problems, not just find a blown fuse. If you have a broad mechanical and electrical background and you like staying on the move, keep reading.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Our customer is an aerospace investment casting facility in La Porte, Indiana, supplying jet engine components to some of the most trusted names in the industry. Production is on the rise, and the maintenance team is growing to keep up, with a focus on building out the back shifts.

Techs here work on new and challenging equipment every day. The plant is clean, with fewer health concerns than many industrial environments, and its critical safety programs, like fall prevention and confined space, are truly administered and followed. The culture is built around people who want to help each other, and there's a broad support chain from engineering on both the mechanical and electrical side.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

You're a well-rounded tech with 5–10 years in industrial maintenance and a broad mechanical and electrical skill set. You don't have to be an expert in either, but when a motor or control circuit goes down, you can troubleshoot to the root of the issue, then pull in the right support when it's needed. You're comfortable with a meter and a Megger, and you know your way around a CMMS.

You're used to a fast pace, and you're self-motivated. You don't sit and wait for the next work order to come in. You're always moving, and that matters here, because techs walk 6–7 miles a day. You communicate clearly with operators, take ownership of your work, adapt when priorities shift, and jump in to help your teammates. Most of all, you live our core values of Safety, Integrity, Pride, and Teamwork every shift.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Perform reactive, preventive, and predictive maintenance on production equipment and facility systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems from 0–24V control voltage through 110–240V single phase and 480V three phase, using a meter, a Megger, and cabinet troubleshooting skills to find the fault.
  • Troubleshoot and repair motors, relays, wiring, and sensors.
  • Troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLC hardware hands-on with a meter, including control circuits, fuses, and I/O module status lights. Software-based troubleshooting is handled by the automation department.
  • Rebuild mechanical devices, and inspect, service, and replace bearings, shafts and seals, and gearboxes.
  • Work on pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including basic pump rebuilds, seal swaps, and on/off and proportional valves.
  • Install, assemble, inspect, and test machinery and equipment.
  • Identify, specify, and use spare and replacement parts, and document work in the CMMS.
  • Communicate with operators and work with engineering support on more complex issues.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 5–10 years of experience in an industrial maintenance field.
  • 4+ years of electrical troubleshooting and repair experience.
  • Experience with control voltage, single phase, and 480V three phase systems.
  • Meter proficiency, including the ability to use a Megger, plus cabinet troubleshooting skills.
  • Hands-on experience with motors, relays, wiring, and sensors.
  • Intermediate mechanical skills, including mechanical rebuilds, bearings, shafts and seals, and gearboxes.
  • A basic understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including reading valve direction and airflow.
  • CMMS experience.
  • Ability to operate single-man scissor lifts.
  • Reading, writing, and basic math skills.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available. This position involves access to export-controlled items, and employment is conditioned on the ability to lawfully obtain access to them.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Advanced electrical or mechanical experience.
  • Experience reading electrical and mechanical diagrams and schematics.
  • Experience with servos, VFDs, transformers, and I/O modules.
  • PLC troubleshooting experience, HMI experience, or robot experience.
  • Experience with ultra-high vacuum systems.
  • CNC machine experience.
  • Experience with positive displacement, air diaphragm, or centrifugal pumps, or rebuilding hydraulic cylinders.
  • Basic to intermediate welding experience (MIG, TIG, or Stick).
  • Experience with scissor and boom lifts and forklifts.

TRAINING AND ONBOARDING

  • Everyone starts on 1st shift for training.
  • Even experienced techs spend 6–9 months working alongside senior technicians to learn the equipment and the facility.
  • After training, you'll move to 2nd or 3rd shift, so you must be available for either.

PAY, BENEFITS AND SCHEDULE

Pro Services recently became an employee-owned company (ESOP), and as a Pro Services employee, you'll receive:

  • $33.50 – $35/hr based on experience, paid weekly.
  • Pro covers 100% of medical insurance premiums starting on Day 1 for single and family plans.
  • Vision and dental insurance.
  • Matching 401(k).
  • Vacation and holiday pay.
  • 1st shift is 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday. 2nd shift is 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM, Monday through Friday. 3rd shift is 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM, Sunday through Thursday.
  • Weekend coverage every 4 weeks on your regular shift hours.
  • Overtime typically runs 2.5–5 hours a week, and about 17 hours on weekend coverage weeks.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Maintenance techs walk 6–7 miles a day. About 90% of the shift is spent standing, and about 60% walking.
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling in the 21–50 lb range for less than a third of the shift. Anything over 35 lbs is a buddy lift or uses a lifting device, like a hoist or chain fall.
  • Frequent squatting, kneeling, crouching, and bending and turning at the waist, plus stairs, ramps, and some ladder and scaffold work.
  • Floors and work surfaces may be wet, slippery, narrow, or irregular.
  • Normal vision is required, including color vision, depth perception, and field of vision.
  • You'll need to provide your own safety boots with an EH rating and a metatarsal guard. Uniforms and standard PPE are provided onsite.
  • Non-union facility.
