Join Oshkosh Aerotech as a Machine Repair Technician Level 3 to support the LAXTEC operation at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). In this senior skilled technician role, you will perform advanced mechanical troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs while providing welding and fabrication support for airport equipment, systems, and facilities. The primary focus is mechanical maintenance and repair, with welding and fabrication as key technical capabilities. Your expertise will support safe, reliable airport operations through quality workmanship, detailed documentation, and proactive identification of equipment issues.

YOUR IMPACT
These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical equipment and systems supporting the LAXTEC operation.
Perform scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency maintenance; lead preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance efforts.
Fabricate, modify, join, and repair equipment, fixtures, brackets, guards, supports, and other metal components and structures.
Perform MIG, TIG, stick, and/or other applicable welding processes in accordance with specifications and company/customer requirements.
Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, schematics, technical manuals, specifications, and work orders for accurate service execution.
Accurately document maintenance, repair, welding, and fabrication activity in CMMS and communicate critical equipment conditions to supervisors.
Use appropriate hand and power tools, welding equipment, measuring devices, forklifts, lift equipment, and company vehicles as authorized.
Comply with company and customer safety programs, trainings, housekeeping, and applicable hazardous waste requirements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Driver’s License.
Ability to obtain necessary airport security clearance.
5+ years’ experience in maintenance operations, mechanical repair, industrial maintenance, or a related skilled technical field.
Welding certificate or equivalent recognized welding training, with hands-on welding and fabrication experience; available to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift, including weekends and holidays.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED equivalent; technical, vocational, military training, or related experience preferred.
Skilled in mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair.
Knowledge and practical experience with MIG, TIG, and/or Stick welding; aluminum and stainless steel experience is a plus.
Ability to fabricate, modify, and repair metal components and structures using appropriate tools and measuring devices.
Ability to read blueprints, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics; familiarity with PLC control systems is a plus.
Familiarity with airport operations and experience maintaining airport, industrial, material-handling, or heavy equipment.
Proficient in basic computer applications and CMMS software; strong communication and problem-solving skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of the MRT 3, the employee is regularly required to stand; sit; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and work in small spaces. Ladder work required. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in outside weather conditions on an airport ramp around aircraft and in confined work areas. Specific vision abilities required by this job include good close proximity vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Good hand / eye coordination is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment is similar to airport operation with vehicular traffic. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, outside weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, cold, heat, vibration, sparks, and welding fumes. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Employees will work on an airport ramp around aircraft and around heavy equipment.
