Position Overview

The MRI Technologist I performs routine MRI and MRA examinations independently while providing high-quality patient care and assisting physicians during diagnostic and specialized MRI procedures. The role requires strict adherence to MRI safety standards, quality assurance protocols, and excellent patient service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine MRI and MRA examinations.
  • Optimize imaging protocols for diagnostic quality and patient comfort.
  • Assist physicians during diagnostic and special MRI procedures.
  • Follow MRI safety policies and maintain sterile technique.
  • Monitor patients during procedures and respond appropriately to adverse reactions.
  • Perform weekly MRI equipment quality control (QC).
  • Maintain accurate documentation and charge entry.
  • Participate in departmental quality improvement and LEAN initiatives.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary care teams.
  • Deliver exceptional patient-centered care.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited MRI training program (including UTMB MRI Training Program if applicable).
  • Minimum 1 year of MRI experience.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • MRI certified or MRI registry-eligible at the time of hire.- Registry-eligible candidates must obtain ARRT (MRI) or ARMRIT certification within 6 months of hire.

Required Skills

  • MRI scanning and patient positioning.

  • Knowledge of MRI safety standards and protocols.

  • Experience with:- PACS

    • Electronic Health Records (EHR)
    • Radiology/Hospital Information Systems (RIS/HIS)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently.

You should be proficient in:

  • ARRT
  • Contrast injectors
  • MRI scanners
  • PACS
  • BLS
