As a Senior Injection Mold Maintenance Technician supporting our molding department, you will be trusted with setting up molds and tooling, maintaining mold bases, inspecting mold samples, and assisting in troubleshooting and improving molding tooling defects at our manufacturing site in Johns Creek, GA.
In this role, a typical day will include:
Working in a cleanroom environment to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and product quality
Setting up, maintaining, and troubleshooting injection molding equipment
Assisting molding engineers with mold equipment and process engineering work
Preparing mold tool setup in precision according to production order
Measuring mold critical dimensions and troubleshooting mold or tool setup issues
Helping set new SOPS and update existing SOPs for the mold and tool department
Provide training if needed to other departments/or team if vital
Completing or assisting with technical improvement projects or activities for process upgrades for better plastic mold part and lens quality
Assisting in the installation, startup, and validation of the injection molding or tooling equipment and systems
Advising and improving maintenance systems (preventative, corrective, predictive, and spare parts)
Minimizing downtime and improving yield and quality
Troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance for all tooling or molding equipment including technical problems in mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, or control systems
Resolving low-yield, defect issues to molds, inserts, and tool plates
Performing molds/inserts inspections and measurements, sometimes using a microscope, and conducting tool plate setups and cleaning
Validating molding and tooling systems
Calibrating with various cross-functional teams across the manufacturing facility
Improving daily tooling inserts assembly precision
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
3 Years of Relevant Experience
The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English
Work hours: Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM EST – 5:00 PM EST

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
A technical diploma or certification in precision engineering and injection molding
Molding tool setup or precision engineering experience
Must be able to perform basic molding machine fault troubleshooting
Experience with mold flow analysis and precision measurement tools
Ability to work in a cleanroom environment, following all cleanliness protocols and procedures
