Job Title: Mold Maintenance Mechanic Shift: Day

The following are tasks to be performed by the Mold Maintenance Mechanic. The duties are not limited to this list. Any additional requirements, changes, or deletions will be at the discretion of the Engineering Liaison. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to execute each essential responsibility and duty satisfactorily.
Summary: The Mold Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for ensuring molds run correctly upon setup, performing maintenance and repairs, troubleshooting issues, and fabricating parts as needed; continuously working to improve mold performance, workplace conditions, and processes; evaluating tool conditions, upholding quality standards, and maintaining a clean, organized work area; collaborating effectively with Mold Technicians and Toolmakers to solve problems and enhance mold and process efficiency; acting in accordance with Altek's policies and adhering to goals and expectations as defined by management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures tools are properly configured prior to ERP scheduled start dates
- Performs routine preventative and corrective maintenance on molds
- Diagnose and troubleshoot problematic molds, offering suggestions for permanent solutions
- Continuously evaluates tool condition and provides recommendations to Tooling Manager
- Fabricates replacement parts and tooling using machine tools and shop equipment
- Seeks to continually improves the work environment, infrastructure, and job procedures
- Visualizes and interprets mold concepts
- Maintains a clean and orderly workplace using adopted 5S and workplace organization tools
- Assists Mold Shop Technicians with mold-related problem solving
- Collaborates with Toolmakers on repairs and process improvements
- Ensures and maintains a safe working environment at all times
- Proactively maintains established company policies and manufacturing strategies
- Builds and maintains positive rapport with other Altek employees, customers and vendors
- Adapts and modifies as circumstances warrant
- Maintains a positive outlook and treats co-workers with respect and professionalism

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Two-year degree in machining and/or tooling preferred
- Two years’ experience in machine shop production or basic machining experience
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics
- being able to spot small errors and make accurate adjustments is key
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and the ability to work with various metals and materials
- Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations related to geometry, measurements, and tolerances
- Gibbs and Mastercam knowledge preferred
- Basic computer skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to use effectively various measuring tools common in tool making (e.g., micrometer, calipers, scales, trig functioning calculator, combination square, surface gauge, precision square, etc.)
- Skilled in using a variety of hand tools, lathes, grinders, and mills to fabricate and repair tools
- Understanding of safe mold practices
