Job Overview:

Graco manufactures and markets premium equipment to move, measure, control, dispense and spray a wide variety of fluid and powder materials. What does that mean? Well, we pump peanut butter into your jar, and the oil in your car. We glue the soles of your shoes, the glass in your windows and the screen on your phone. We spray the finish on your vehicle, coatings on your pills, the paint on your house and texture on your walls. Graco is part of your daily life.

Hours: 6am - 4pm, Monday - Thursday

Job Purpose

Fabricate models and prototype parts to support new product development engineering teams. Build, repair, and maintain jigs, fixtures, dies, gauges, and tools for manufacturing operations.

Essential Duties

  • Read and understand blueprints
  • Program and operate CNC machines
  • Transform complicated drawings and sketches into parts
  • Perform hand-fitting operations
  • Build multiple parts holding tools
  • Work with engineers and support groups on machine requirements that could affect the quality and cost of prototypes being built
  • Work from sketches and information from engineers as necessary
  • Inspect work to assure parts conform to blueprints
  • Maintain safety procedures for self and end users
  • Must be willing to move to other machines as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Certifications/Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 year technical school degree in Machine Tool or Tool and Die
  • Minimum 4 years of CNC machine tool operation and programming experience, combined with milling and turning machines
  • Minimum 7 years experience as a Model and Tool and Die Maker with a wide range of machine use and project variety
  • Training in Measurement Skills for Manufacturing, Math for Machinists, Blue Print Reading for Machinists, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing III

Skills/Abilities/Competencies

  • Previous CNC operating programming experience
  • Must be able to inspect complex parts, read and understand complicated drawings, and have advanced math and precision measuring instruments (both English and metric)
  • Ability to apply Graco standards and geometric tolerancing and dimensioning
  • Experience preforming prove-outs, preprods, reprocessing, and cost savings
  • Ability to establish and manage project hours and materials
  • Ability to work independently
  • Good interpersonal, written, and oral communications
  • Ability to plan and execute directions
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong PC skills

Physical requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds
  • Ability to stand for the course of the shift
  • Ability to bend, push/pull, stoop, walk
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion of arms, fingers, hands
  • Good eye/hand coordination
