**Mill Machinist Supervisor Lead – Day Shift

Summary/Objective: The Mill Machinist Supervisor Lead – Day Shift is responsible for supervising the production flow in the mill area work-centers by providing support, coaching, and motivation to mill operator machinists. Directs work assignments for day shift as well as production priorities for night and weekend shifts. Provides innovative solutions to improve plant efficiency, production standards, and quality requirements.
Essential Functions:

Implements planned work-center scheduling
Offers solutions and alternatives to scheduling and shop load challenges
Monitors operator performance to inspection criteria
Monitors operator performance to time standards
Enforces all operator safety requirements
Coaches and trains operators for improvement
Implements company approved guidelines and processes
Interacts closely and effectively with engineering and quality departments
Reads and interprets blueprints
Measures, examines and tests finished parts in order to detect compliance to specifications using precision instruments such as micrometers
Assures operators are maintaining equipment to company expectations
Sets and maintains 5S principles and expectations to all operators
Provides recommendations to improve plant efficiency
Manages department payroll to approved budget guidelines
and manages timekeeping in both the payroll system and the ERP system
Reports up to management job status, production efficiency, quality issues, and engineering issues
Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate

Controller Program knowledge
Understanding of machining principles
Strong troubleshooting ability and critical thinking skills
Proficiency with manual measuring devices such as micrometers and calipers
Ability to supervise, coach, discipline, and motivate multiple personality types

Understanding of manufacturing key performance indicators
Ability to communicate with multiple experience levels of employees
Ability to communicate with multiple departments
Multiple machine and controller knowledge
Ability to interpret and analyze performance data
Supervisory Responsibility
This position supervises machine operators on the day shift.
Participates in selection of staff as well as manages performance.
Minimum Qualifications
:
Ten years’ experience of CNC set-up for both lathes and mills up to 5-axis
Three / Five years minimum lead / supervisory experience
High school diploma / GED

**Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
**
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Thursday, 5:30 am to 2:00 pm
