Job Title:Machinist Supervisor Lead – Night Shift

Reports To: Production Manager

Summary/Objective: The Machinist Supervisor Lead – Night Shift is responsible for supervising the production flow on the night shift, while operating a CNC machine. Provides support and mentoring to other machinists. Directs work assignments for shift. Provides innovative solutions to improve plant efficiency.

Essential Functions:

• Supervises the machine operators on the night shift and manages timekeeping in both the payroll system and the ERP system
• Directs night shift work flow
• Reads and interprets blue prints
• Machines parts to specifications
• Performs in-process inspections to ensure conforming parts are being produced
• Monitors the feeds and speeds of machines during the machining process
• Measures, examines and tests finished parts in order to detect compliance to specifications using precisions instruments such as micrometers
• Maintains equipment by conducting routine preventative maintenance.
• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows all safety regulations
• Provides recommendations to improve plant efficiency
• Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate

Competencies:

• Blue print reading
• Program, load and unload CNC machines
• Strong troubleshooting ability and critical thinking skills
• Proficiency with manual measuring devices such as micrometers and calipers
• Ability to supervise others while running CNC machine
• Ability to multi-task

Supervisory Responsibility

This position supervisors machine operators on the night shift. Participates in selection of staff as well as manages performance.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ten years experience of CNC set-up for both lathes and mills up to 4-axis
• Two years lead / supervisory experience
• High school diploma / GED

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand for long periods of time; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

This position requires the ability to lift products and supplies, up to 30 pounds. May be subject to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors and dust.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Thursday, 3:15 p.m. to 1:15 a.m.
