Job Overview:

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary

This position is responsible for overseeing intake operations, including ensuring the quality control of incoming milk through sampling and antibiotic testing, maintaining sanitation of intake systems, and assisting in the efficient utilization of the intake resources.

Essential Functions

  • Safely and professionally operate intake equipment according to SOPs.
  • Possess and maintain a valid milk sampling and testing license.
  • Follow federal and state guidelines for proper sampling and antibiotic testing of milk to ensure accurate qualitative and quantitative testing results and verify milk meets all quality standards prior to loading.
  • Verify that outside milk haulers collect drip samples as required. 
  • Direct milk unloading to appropriate unloading bays and manage the unloading process.
  • Complete and maintain appropriate paperwork and documentation to ensure accurate record keeping including documenting the intake utility checklist. 
  • Responsible for clean-in-place (CIP) of the milk transfer line, silos and cream tankers prior to loading to ensure sanitation standards are upheld. 
  • Oversee milk silo management including filling, transferring and performing CIP.
  • Maintain inventory levels of chemicals and intake supplies.
  • Serve as the company’s representative with outside milk haulers, maintaining strong, positive and professional relationships. 
  • Safely handle, prepare and use chemicals while wearing proper PPE.
  • Attend and/or complete required safety and quality training sessions by the assigned deadlines. 
  • Actively participate in extraneous prevention and solids recovery.
  • Understand and adhere to all food safety, GMPs and OSHA policies and procedures.
  • Perform all work in a manner that ensures the highest standard of food safety and quality.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
This position is performed in a variety of weather conditions, which could include outside weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position on an alternating night shift schedule. Hours of work will vary but are generally 12 hours per day. This position will work alternating weekends.

Travel
Travel is primarily local during the scheduled shifts with all shifts starting and ending in Milbank. Occasional overnight travel for training may be possible.

Required Education, Experience & Certifications
High school diploma or GED is required for this position. Valid milk sampling and testing license is required or must be obtained within a specified period after hire. 

Preferred Education, Experience & Certifications
Prior knowledge with antibiotic lab testing is desired. Bilingual in English/Spanish.
