Job Summary

Express Employment Professionals is seeking a dependable MIG Welder for a local manufacturing client in Amarillo. This position is responsible for MIG welding, fabrication, material preparation, fit-up, grinding, measuring, and other production duties.

The ideal candidate will have previous welding or fabrication experience, good mechanical aptitude, and the ability to produce quality work while following safety and production standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform MIG welding on structural steel and other materials.
• Cut, prepare, and fit materials and components for welding.
• Perform tank and structural component fit-up.
• Set up, operate, and perform basic maintenance on welding equipment.
• Read and follow mechanical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
• Select and prepare welding wire, filler materials, and other supplies.
• Use measuring tools and instruments to ensure materials meet specifications.
• Inspect welds and completed work for quality and accuracy.
• Perform grinding, finishing, and cleanup using hand and power tools.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE.
• Assist other production and fabrication team members as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous MIG welding experience preferred.
• Previous manufacturing, fabrication, construction, or related experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of welding tools, equipment, and processes.
• Ability to read basic blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to accurately use measuring tools.
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds as needed.
• Ability to stand, bend, reach, and work for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Must be able to occasionally lift and move materials weighing up to 80 pounds.
• Must be comfortable standing and working for extended periods.
• Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate tools and welding equipment.
• Ability to bend, reach, walk, and maneuver throughout a manufacturing environment.
• Work may involve exposure to noise, dust, welding fumes, sparks, and other typical manufacturing conditions.
• Proper PPE and adherence to all safety procedures are required.
