(Higher for combo welders / blueprint readers / stainless TIG)
Position Summary
Seeking experienced MIG and TIG Welders to fabricate, weld, and assemble metal products/components in a fast-paced fabrication shop. Candidates must be able to read prints, maintain quality weld standards, and work safely around production equipment.
This role is ideal for welders who can do more than “just run beads” — they need people who can fit, fabricate, measure, troubleshoot, and move production.
Core Responsibilities
Welding Duties
- Perform MIG welding on carbon steel, structural steel, sheet metal, tubing, frames, and assemblies
- Perform TIG welding on stainless steel, aluminum, or precision-finish parts
- Multi-pass welds when required
- Fillet, groove, butt, lap, and vertical welds
- Grind, clean, and prep surfaces before welding
Fabrication Duties
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, weld symbols
- Layout parts using tape measure, square, level, soapstone
- Operate saws, grinders, drill press, ironworker, plasma table (if needed)
- Fit parts and tack assemblies before final weld
Quality Duties
- Inspect weld penetration, appearance, dimensions
- Ensure parts meet tolerance/spec
- Repair defects or rework as needed
- Maintain clean welds with minimal spatter
Shop Duties
- Keep workstation clean
- Follow production schedule
- Support team on rush jobs
- Follow PPE and OSHA safety standards
Required Qualifications
Must Have
- 2+ years MIG welding in fabrication environment
- 1+ years TIG welding preferred
- Ability to pass weld test onsite
- Read tape measure to 1/16” minimum
- Read blueprints and weld symbols
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Reliable transportation / attendance
Strongly Preferred
- Structural welding experience
- Stainless / aluminum TIG
- Fitting experience
- Forklift / crane experience
- Custom fabrication / job shop experience
- AWS certs (nice bonus, not always required)
