OVERVIEW: Pratt Miller is looking for a qualified candidate for a Quality Technician position to perform inspections, reverse engineering, and other measurements in support of programs throughout our product development lifecycle from prototype through low-volume production in an ISO 9001 certified engineering and manufacturing environment. A successful Quality Technician will work with the manufacturing and engineering teams to provide the data needed to support their job functions. In addition to the internal team, this position will interact with suppliers to communicate quality issues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & SKILLS:

Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Dimensional inspection of parts to engineering drawings and/or CAD models
• Creation of ballooned engineering drawings and inspection report templates
• Create and maintain inspection records and other required documentation
• Examine incoming parts and documentation to confirm correct specifications and established standards are met
• Interface internally and with suppliers to give feedback on part quality issues
• Part numbering and serialization
• Reverse engineering measurement
• Non-destructive testing of parts (magnetic particle and dye penetrant methods)
• Cosmetic evaluation of parts
• Communicate in a professional manner, both verbally and written
• Proficient with Windows based computers and MS software such as Teams, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings including GD&T symbols
• Able to perform in a dynamic and fast paced environment

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of a High School diploma or GED equivalent required
• 2+ years of work experience in manufacturing environment in quality/inspection or as machine tool operator
• Experience with using micrometers, calipers, bore gages, height gauges, Faro arms and other metrology equipment; CAD based measurement experience is a plus
• Experience with software such as Faro CAM2, PolyWorks, Zeiss Calypso, InspectionXpert or similar programs a plus
• Experience working with common steel and aluminum alloys, as well as carbon fiber components
• Solid foundational knowledge of mechanical systems and manufacturing processes
• Experience with basic lathe and mill operations required
• Experience with laser parts marking and engraving a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Position requires occasional moderate physical activity
• Moving and maneuvering heavy objects may be required at times

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

• 6:30 AM start time, Monday-Friday
• 40-hour standard work week with paid overtime
• Must be flexible with schedule to accommodate fixed deadlines, working longer hours, Saturdays, and/or Sundays as required

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Combination of quality lab and manufacturing areas
• Periodic travel may be required between facilities
• Stress may occur periodically

This position will require lawful access to ITAR/EAR controlled information and employees in this role will need to meet those requirements. Requirements include US Citizenship, US Permanent Resident or ability to meet licensure requirements.
