Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager of Mechanical Engineering to join our team in Mesa, AZ. Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers, fostering a culture of creativity and innovation.
  • Ensure all hardware designs meet Design Assurance Level (DAL) requirements; oversee creation and approval of PHACs, HDPs, and Hardware Accomplishment Summaries.
  • Oversee and guide mechanical strategies for EMI shielding and structural/environmental survivability including shock, vibration, and thermal analysis.
  • Support System Engineering in formal Design Reviews (PDR/CDR); approve mechanical drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing processes (DFM/DFA) to ensure production scalability and repeatability.
  • Bid and forecast resource needs; manage department budgets and oversee project schedules to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Plan and track mechanical engineering scope, schedule, and cost performance in alignment with program Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) and budgets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project goals are met on time and within budget.
  • Develop and implement engineering processes and technical approches to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide professional development opportunities for team members.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements to drive continuous improvement in engineering practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field preferred
  • 15+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Expertise in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, or NX) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for thermal and structural simulation.
  • Deep understanding of MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, and RTCA DO-160 standards.
  • Experience with resource planning, performance evaluations (SMART Goals), and team development.
  • Working knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) concepts as applied to engineering execution on government programs.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Military service or government contract experience preferred.
  • Willing and able to travel both in and outside US.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
