We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager of Mechanical Engineering to join our team in Mesa, AZ. Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers, fostering a culture of creativity and innovation.
- Ensure all hardware designs meet Design Assurance Level (DAL) requirements; oversee creation and approval of PHACs, HDPs, and Hardware Accomplishment Summaries.
- Oversee and guide mechanical strategies for EMI shielding and structural/environmental survivability including shock, vibration, and thermal analysis.
- Support System Engineering in formal Design Reviews (PDR/CDR); approve mechanical drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing processes (DFM/DFA) to ensure production scalability and repeatability.
- Bid and forecast resource needs; manage department budgets and oversee project schedules to ensure on-time delivery.
- Earned Value Management (EVM)
- Plan and track mechanical engineering scope, schedule, and cost performance in alignment with program Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) and budgets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project goals are met on time and within budget.
- Develop and implement engineering processes and technical approches to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide professional development opportunities for team members.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements to drive continuous improvement in engineering practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field preferred
- 15+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
- Expertise in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, or NX) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for thermal and structural simulation.
- Deep understanding of MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, and RTCA DO-160 standards.
- Experience with resource planning, performance evaluations (SMART Goals), and team development.
- Working knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) concepts as applied to engineering execution on government programs.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Military service or government contract experience preferred.
- Willing and able to travel both in and outside US.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
