BAE Systems is seeking a Manager I with solid, demonstrated leadership qualities who will be responsible for managing a small team of Program Finance personnel which is part of a growing Product Line.  You will provide day to day oversight and leadership to, not only the finance team, but to all the members of the team that support the programs within the Product Line portfolio.  Leveraging your strong leadership, you will provide financial decision support to the Product Line Finance Director, the Product Line Director and the Product Area Directors.  You will also be responsible for leading & briefing the CFO & Quarterly Business Review, the 5-year Intergrated Business Planning cycle along with the normal monthly financial updates and status against the Operating Plan inclusive of providing leadership and oversight for new business funds and investments.  This role requires a skilled leader who can work independently and keep the product line on a normal business reporting cadence.  It is a role that will require the individual to interact with all levels of the Product Line and act, on occasion as the delegation of approval, for the Finance Director.  

In this job, you will:

  • Drive and lead the coordination and development of quarterly financial forecasts for the Product Line by coordinating closely with the finance team and the Product Line leadership team.  

  • Work independently, but in a cross-functional team environment.

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the finance team and work to develop them in their careers as it relates to understanding financial planning and analysis inclusive of assessing risks and opportunities to the quarterly forecasts and weekly latest looks.

  • Utilize strong communication skills to interface with the Product Line Leadership Team, Finance Team and Cross-functional team members to ensure financial forecasts are accurate and sound. 

  • Be responsible for the mentoring and coaching of junior finance personnel as it relates to understanding Hyperion and financial forecasting.  

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the finance team relative to the monitoring, controlling and reporting of programs.

  • Work directly for the Finance Director of the Product Line and act on their behalf, when needed.

Required Skills and Education

  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.

  • Prior experience with Oracle, Hyperion & Smartview.

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Powerpoint, Word).

  • Earned Value (EV) Management Certification and EV Tools.

  • Must be a self-starter with strong problem-solving, analytical and in-depth research skills.  Be self-motivated with a bias for action, process/results oriented.

  • Have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written and take command of a room.

  • Be able to prioritize and self-manage a multitasked workload in a fast-paced environment in order to meet or exceed commitments to the business.

  • Make decisions with sound judgment while complying with policies and procedures.

  • Be detailed oriented and meticulous record-keeping skills.


Preferred Skills and Education

  • Prior experience with Hyperion and Smartview reporting.

  • Oracle

  • Extremely proficient with Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint & Sharepoint

  • Ability to work independently and drive tasks to closure with little to no supervision.

  • Master's Degree.

  • Solid understanding of Earned Value and management of government contracts.

  • Proven leadership skills.
