BAE Systems is currently looking for a Hardware Engineering Manager to lead a team focused on advancing the Hardware Technologies for the Precision Strike (PS) organization.   This position offers abundant opportunity to acquire in-depth knowledge of PS technology and architecture, and to apply that knowledge in a team environment to develop cutting-edge military product solutions. Candidates should have a solid understanding of hardware development approach, transition to production, qualification testing practices, a proven track record of leading teams either directly or indirectly to achieve complex design objectives and a passion to help coach and mentor Hardware Engineers to grow.  At BAE systems, we develop capabilities for our warfighters to outpace the continual evolution of the threat environment or as we say within BAE Systems, 'We protect those who protect us'.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing a group of Hardware Engineers, providing them with technical mentoring, career guidance and performance feedback. As the team leader you will be responsible for the overall performance of the team to meet the objectives of the business. To shape and grow the team you will be integral in interviewing and hiring new team members and ensuring staffing levels and skill sets are aligned with the programs and business needs. You will be an engaged member of the Engineering Leadership Team and expected to work closely with other Team Leaders, Program Managers, and business development to influence roadmaps and understand customer and market needs. You will leverage your technical skills to ensure our design, implementations, and sustainment solutions meet and exceed our customers' expectations. You will also have opportunities for technical engagement in architecture and design reviews, strategic initiative implementation, bid and proposal development, next generation solution planning and other areas that align with your skills and career aspirations.

As a committed leader within Hardware Engineering, you will help guide Engineers in their career advancement as well as push development initiatives and best practices across the discipline. Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline, or Masters of Science
  • Current US Citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to obtain a DoW Security Clearance
  • Experience in a people manager role or a matrix leader role on a development project
  • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Hardware Design experience.
  • Product Transition to Production Experience.
  • Experience in overall successful project execution and oversight.
  • Experience creating project plans and setting up project schedules.
  • Experience identifying, hiring, and training staff for project execution.
  • Experience in supporting pursuit activities, including bids and proposals.
  • Ability to guide employees through complicated or difficult situations effectively and professionally.
  • Experience presenting to technical audiences.
  • Highly motivated to solve complex problems and continuously improve.
  • Existing Secret or Top Secret Security Clearance.

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience
