Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Systems Engineering Manager to lead the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems for complex semiconductor and industrial manufacturing equipment.

This position requires strong technical expertise in electrical system architecture, power distribution, controls, equipment safety, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will have prior people-management experience and a demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams, develop technical talent, manage key suppliers, and drive cross-functional programs from concept through product release.

The role requires effective collaboration with senior leaders and executive-level stakeholders to align technical strategies, communicate risks, influence decisions, and deliver solutions that improve product performance, safety, reliability, cost, and manufacturability.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

  • Lead the architecture, design, development, and qualification of electrical systems and subsystems for complex semiconductor and industrial manufacturing equipment.
  • Direct the creation and modification of electrical assemblies, layouts, schematics, wiring diagrams, detailed drawings, and engineering specifications.
  • Define system-level electrical requirements and develop solutions for complex product, performance, reliability, safety, and integration challenges.
  • Lead engineering analysis, design reviews, risk assessments, troubleshooting, root-cause investigations, and corrective-action activities.
  • Provide technical direction for power distribution, power control, switchgear, circuit protection, sensors, controllers, safety interlocks, and related electrical components.
  • Create and maintain electrical product specifications, design standards, engineering processes, and Best Known Methods (BKMs).
  • Review and approve engineering documentation, including design packages, specifications, test plans, qualification reports, and product release documentation.
  • Ensure electrical designs comply with applicable industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal engineering practices.

People and Organizational Leadership

  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of electrical engineers responsible for product development, system integration, and sustaining engineering activities.
  • Establish team priorities, allocate resources, manage performance, and ensure the successful delivery of engineering commitments.
  • Build technical capability within the organization through coaching, knowledge sharing, succession planning, and development of technical leaders.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, inclusion, and engineering excellence.
  • Identify organizational capability gaps and develop strategies to address current and future business needs.

Program and Stakeholder Management

  • Lead complex, cross-functional engineering programs from concept and feasibility through design, qualification, release, and production.
  • Partner with mechanical, controls, software, systems, safety, reliability, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and sourcing organizations.
  • Manage executive-level stakeholders by providing clear updates on technical strategy, program status, risks, trade-offs, resource needs, and recommended actions.
  • Translate complex technical topics into concise business-level communications that support timely executive decisions.
  • Influence technical and business decisions across organizational boundaries without relying solely on direct authority.
  • Manage competing priorities and align engineering execution with product roadmaps, customer requirements, and business objectives.
  • Lead the technical development and qualification of key suppliers to improve quality, cost, capacity, manufacturability, and delivery performance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in electrical systems engineering, product development, or equipment engineering.
  • Prior experience as an engineering manager or people leader, including responsibility for team performance, employee development, resource planning, and delivery commitments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary and globally distributed engineering teams.
  • Proven ability to manage and influence senior leaders and executive-level stakeholders.
  • Strong experience in the design and integration of electrical equipment for semiconductor, process, batch, industrial, or manufacturing applications.
  • Demonstrated expertise in electrical system architecture, power distribution, power control, and equipment-level system integration.
  • Experience selecting and applying switchgear, circuit protection devices, sensors, controllers, power supplies, and other major electrical components.
  • Experience defining safety interlocks, protection strategies, and equipment safety requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex electrical systems and lead structured root-cause investigations.
  • Experience leading technical projects, design reviews, supplier development, and product qualification activities.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.

Technical Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of relevant electrical and semiconductor equipment standards, including:
    • NFPA 70
    • NFPA 79
    • SEMI S2
    • SEMI S8
    • SEMI F47
    • UL 508A
  • Understanding of industrial communication protocols, including:
    • RS-232
    • RS-485
    • EtherCAT
    • Industrial Ethernet
  • Knowledge of electrical documentation, configuration control, design release, validation, and product lifecycle processes.
  • Familiarity with electrical design and documentation tools such as EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or equivalent platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related discipline.
  • Experience developing electrical systems for semiconductor capital equipment.
  • Experience leading global engineering teams and collaborating across multiple geographic locations.
  • Experience with new product introduction, sustaining engineering, cost reduction, standardization, and supply-chain initiatives.
  • Experience developing electrical technology roadmaps, design standards, reusable architectures, and organizational BKMs.
  • Demonstrated success presenting technical recommendations and influencing decisions at the executive level.
  • Experience managing critical suppliers and outsourced engineering partners.

Success Profile

The ideal candidate is a technically credible people leader who can operate effectively at both the detailed engineering and strategic organizational levels. This person can guide complex technical decisions, develop high-performing teams, align cross-functional stakeholders, and communicate effectively with senior and executive leadership.

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
