Being on the R&D side of the business means every task assigned to you may be different. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in manufacturing and inspection that allows them to become knowledgeable on all measurement equipment through internal and external training.
Your role on our team:
The Metrology Technician is a vital part of a growing Quality Metrology team. This team is responsible for accurate and timely data across the entire array of Milwaukee Tool products. What you’ll do goes beyond standard conformance inspection. This role provides ample opportunity to grow your career in various paths including reverse engineering and failure analysis!
Your duties and responsibilities:
Safely operate metrology equipment to generate requested data
Tactile bridge CMMs
Optical CMMs
Roughness & Contour Profilometer
Hand gages (micrometers, height gages, etc.)
Translate blueprints with advanced GD&T into measurement strategies
Communicate with engineers/requestors about their experimental intent
Record data through Excel and PowerPoint
Interact with requestors in-person or virtually to effectively present data
Adhere to all 5S and safety requirements in the work area.
The TOOLS you will need to bring with you:
7+ years of direct metrology experience
Prior experience with any CNC CMM, Zeiss Calypso preferred
Design and build work holding using modular fixture plates
Problem-solving skills and technical aptitude (e.g., have you built a computer, done car/home repairs, DIY remodeling, woodworking, 3D printing, etc.?)
3D spatial thinking
Understand coordinate systems and degrees of freedom
Visualize multiple-part assemblies
Experience with 3D view manipulation in software
Experience reading engineering drawings or assembly diagrams
Able to react to change effectively in a team setting and handle multiple tasks as assigned
Other TOOLS that are nice to have:
Degree or specialized training related to Inspection/Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering
AUKOM Certifications
Nondestructive Testing certification (ANST NDT)
Formal Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) training
Machining experience
3D modeling and CAD
Working conditions
