Looking for a new opportunity? We are looking to fill the position of a Metal Finishing Tech. This role is responsible for a variety of tasks including assembly, hanging parts for painting and shipment preparation. This role is first shift Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:00 pm. Starting pay is $24+/hour, dependent on work experience.
Summary: Under limited supervision this role will process parts and products through automatic plating lines. Test and maintain proper chemical balance for all plating solutions and treat wastewater to meet pollution control standards. You will perform quality testing and follow procedures to ensure appropriate finish to parts. This role will be responsible for maintaining all proper documentation including environmental, quality and productivity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: (Other duties may be assigned.)
- Reviews work orders to ensure familiarization with job requirements. Rack and un-rack parts as required for the plating process. Inspects parts continuously to ensure that plating process is performed in a manner consistent with company standards of quantity and quality. Notifies supervisor and appropriate team members of all related problems.
- Monitors plating solution levels and temperatures continuously to maintain proper plating results. Adjust equipment settings to obtain desired plating specifications. Conducts tests of cleaning tanks for proper chemical solutions. Checks PH on zinc and nickel tanks daily. Takes weekly grab samples of chrome and nickel. Takes weekly tests of chloride, zinc, metals, and boric acid solutions to determine suitability for use.
- Maintains appropriate documentation and works with regulatory agency representatives as needed.
- Monitors and maintains water treatment and coordinates disposal with outside vendors.
- Inspecting plating equipment and making repairs as necessary. Design and construct new racks and hooks as required for new products and to improve efficiency on existing products.
- Cleaning of parts and tanks as required and keeping a daily logbook of chemicals used.
- May occasionally be required to start boilers and will need to pass boiler certification exam.
- Manually operates hoists in moving parts through cleaning cycles of stainless steel.
- Operates all equipment in a safe manner, always following all approved safety procedures.
- Training platers on the waste treatment process and plating process.
- Always maintains a neat and orderly work area.
- Maintains an effective working relationship with co-workers.
- Will work in other departments during down time.
- Must be able to wear a respirator safely and be clean shaven to allow for proper fit/seal.
- Attends design reviews and acts as a subject matter expert as needed.
Qualifications (Education & Experience):
- 3-4 years minimum experience working in a manufacturing facility.
- Previous plating experience preferred.
- Basic computer and keyboard skills.
- Must be able to read, write and speak in English to effectively perform the job.
