Job Overview:

SHOP MANAGER

Our Client is an award-winning exhibit design and fabrication firm that collaborates with various agencies in the design, production, fabrication, and installation of interpretive and wayfinding signage and exhibits.

SUMMARY

Our client is growing their business and is currently seeking a Shop Foreman-Manager with several years of experience managing within a production facility.Essential to the position is documentation, quality control, and supporting the team to assist in acquiring what they need to succeed.

SCHEDULE:Full-time with some nationwidetravel (2-6 times a year)

PAY:up to $65k for a well-qualified candidate.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaboration with the design team.
  • Maintain a weekly shop schedule to align with installation and shipping schedules to complete deadlines and tasks.
  • Evaluate multiple types of schedules, including lead times, client expectations, installations vs. shop time, etc., to find the best solution for on-time delivery of product.
  • Develop and refine internal processes to reduce errors and reduce redundancy.
  • Assign jobs to fabricators, painters, and packagers.
  • Train welders on new fabrication skills for advancement in their field.
  • Quality control of all products being shipped and installed.
  • Taking fabrication process photographs.
  • Shop and machine/toolmaintenance.
  • Motivates work and production across the board.
  • Support the team by providing the tools for success
  • Coordinate multiple vendors and external materials to ensure timely product shipments.
  • Track all parts of ongoing projects to completion
  • Quality control checks on all products preparing to ship
  • Ensure that paperwork is organized, completed, and filled to specs.
  • Meet with upper management and the design team to coordinate project timing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 3 years of recent experience managing people in a light-industrial environment. High preference for a metal fabrication or welding facility.
  • Working experience in creating and managing production schedules
  • Record of full participation in getting the job done by supporting and assisting the whole team.
  • Proven record of effective and positive communicationwith the team andupper management
  • Minimum of 5 years in constructionand/or fabrication work, with a preference to those with training/teaching fabricators
  • Ability to have a flexible schedule and travel to complete projects.
  • Prior work experience in project management
