Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Mercury Outboard Technician / Marine Mechanic to join a professional marine service operation working on high-quality recreational boats and yachts.

This is a full-time, hands-on position for a technician who is confident diagnosing, servicing, and repairing Mercury and Mercury Marine outboard engines. The ideal candidate comes from a boatyard, marina, marine dealership, yacht service company, or similar marine environment.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, service, maintain, and repair Mercury outboard engines

  • Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, filters, impellers, spark plugs, lower-unit service, and scheduled engine services

  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, fuel, ignition, and cooling-system issues

  • Diagnose engine performance problems using appropriate diagnostic equipment

  • Perform engine rigging, repowers, and component replacement when needed

  • Troubleshoot marine electrical and battery/charging systems

  • Conduct sea trials and verify repairs

  • Perform preventative maintenance and inspections

  • Maintain accurate service and repair records

  • Work professionally around customer-owned boats and yachts

  • Communicate repair findings clearly with service managers and other technicians

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area

Ideal Background

  • 3+ years of professional marine mechanic or outboard technician experience preferred

  • Strong experience with Mercury outboard engines

  • Mercury Marine certifications are highly desirable

  • Experience with Verado engines is a plus

  • Experience working on center consoles, sportfishing boats, recreational vessels, or yachts

  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities

  • Familiarity with marine diagnostic software and equipment

  • Experience with Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, or other outboard platforms is a plus

  • Ability to work independently and accurately diagnose problems

  • Valid driver's license

  • Reliable and professional
