NOW HIRING: We are looking for a Mechatronics Technician 1 to join our Circular Products team in Winsted. The Mechatronics Technician 1 supports equipment reliability and uptime by diagnosing complex failures, performing equipment rebuilds, fabricating replacement components, and assisting in the installation and improvement of production equipment. This role works closely with engineering and production teams to improve equipment performance, safety, and reliability. This position is a part of the maintenance department.
Location: Winsted, MN
Salary Range: $25.50 - 30.00 per hour (non-exempt)

Shift Schedule: 1st shift: Monday – Friday 5am - 1pm or 7am - 3pm

As a Mechatronics Technician 1, you will:
- Troubleshoot, repair, and/or install production equipment, including motors, generators, pneumatic equipment, hydraulic equipment, clutches, bearings, pumps, computerized equipment, and other devices, following elementary logic/wiring diagrams, pneumatic and hydraulic diagrams, and equipment manuals
- Apply mechanical/electrical/electronic theory and related knowledge with a primary focus on control systems and a secondary focus on mechanical systems.
- Diagnose equipment failures and implement corrective actions to restore equipment to safe and reliable operation
- Perform equipment rebuilds, retrofits, and modifications to improve performance and reliability
- Fabricate and machine replacement parts and components as required to support equipment repairs and improvements
- Install, assemble, and commission new production equipment and machinery
- Interpret and work from blueprints, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings
- Perform preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance tasks, and reliability improvements
- Support root cause analysis and problem-solving activities for recurring equipment issues
- Assist with Continuous Improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability, and efficiency
- Safely operate shop equipment, including mills, welders, plasma cutters, and other fabrication tools
- Safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, man lifts, and other powered industrial equipment
- Maintain accurate maintenance documentation, including PM reports and work requests
- Maintain a clean and organized maintenance shop and work area
- Communicate equipment issues, repair status, and improvement opportunities with maintenance leadership and operations
Role Qualifications as a Mechatronics Technician 1:
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Technical AAS degree with emphasis on Mechatronics, or in pursuit of a degree
- Five or more years of maintenance experience or skilled trades experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
- Ability to troubleshoot complex equipment failures and determine root cause
- Experience with welding, machining, and metal fabrication strongly preferred
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and blueprints
- Strong understanding of industrial equipment installation and alignment practices
- Ability to use precision measurement tools, including micrometers, calipers, indicators, and multimeters
- Ability to operate forklifts, overhead cranes, hoists, and other powered industrial vehicles
- Ability to operate a variety of power tools, fabrication equipment, and maintenance tools
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on complex repairs
- Ability to work effectively as part of a high-performance team
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support production needs
Physical Demands:
This position requires the individual to wear and work in company-provided personal protective equipment (PPE). This position requires that the individual be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs. And, if applicable, can maneuver large, cumbersome equipment with the use of an overhead crane and/or forklift. Must be able to work in, on, or around equipment and machinery. The employee may need to perform work with the use of ladders.
