WHAT YOU WILL DO
Responsible for developing plumbing products with a focus on electronics and embedded software that meet customer needs and business objectives. This role also supports mechanical engineering functions within the Innovation team.
Primary focus on the mechanical, electronic, and embedded firmware development of new and existing products, particularly as applied to sensors and electromechanical systems. UX and industrial design skills are also an asset.
Design, analyze, program, and debug new and existing IR/capacitance sensors for plumbing products.
Develop detailed design specifications and project scoping documents in coordination with Product Category Managers for new designs.
Use advanced engineering principles, industry standards, and a disciplined approach to evaluate product concepts for feasibility, technical risk, cost, and alignment with business strategy.
Perform testing and analysis of new product designs, including competitor benchmarking, and prepare high-quality technical reports.
Perform testing, troubleshooting, and comprehensive analytical evaluations to identify and resolve design issues and technical risks.
Think creatively to propose new and innovative solutions or product features to solve user-centric problems.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
Minimum of 5 years of related professional experience in the development of mechanical and electronic systems.
Graduate of an accredited Canadian university or college program in Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent field.
Eligible to register as a Certified Engineering Technologist or Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in using 3D CAD software and lifecycle management tools (CREO and TEAMCENTER experience preferred).
Experience developing Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
Experience developing test plans for product verification, validation, and compliance.
Programming and debugging experience with 8-, 16-, and 32-bit microcontrollers using C or Python is an asset.
Ability to support new product launches using a structured GATE approval procedure or automotive APQP process.
Experience creating detailed technical specifications, including drawings, test procedures, and engineering standards.
Proficient in the use of general test equipment and instrumentation, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power supplies.
Familiar with electronic circuit design software and IDEs, including Altium, SPICE, GitHub, CodeVision, Microchip Studio, and ModusToolbox.
Knowledge of electrical codes and standards associated with plumbing and low-voltage electronic products (CSA, IAPMO, FCC, IEC, UL).
IoT (Internet of Things) experience is an asset, including Smart Home technology, app development, or cloud-connected services.
Knowledge and ability to use emerging AI tools including LLM’s, Agentic AI and machine learning for data analysis and improving engineering productivity.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
Demonstrated ability to work with a sense of urgency and meet deadlines and deliverables while managing concurrent projects.
Must be a self-starter, demonstrate a bias for action, be results-oriented, and use data to guide decisions.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

The salary range shown reflects the expected annual base salary for this open position, plus other wage amounts such as annual bonus, profit sharing, and commissions.
