Your Role: What you'll be doing

  • Researches, designs and develops instruments, automation controls, engines, machines, mechanisms, hydraulics, heat transfer, cryogenic and ordnance components and systems that are used in the transmission, measurement and use of energy.
  • Application of mechanical engineering principles to the planning, design, development and testing of mechanical systems and tools needed for testing and/or build applications.
  • Consideration of such factors as accessibility, mobility, and performance requirements play a factory in the design.
  • Creates, revises and maintains engineering bill of materials.
  • Develops data package (e.g., tool usage instructions, procurement information, test plan, etc.) to satisfy design release requirements.
  • Develops and prepares work packages for tool fabrication.
  • Develops, authorizes and implements methods and interim solutions for damaged and unsafe tools and equipment to meet functional requirements.
  • Experience with Non-Conformance resolution, disposition, and corrective action.
  • Analyzes and establishes preventive maintenance requirements for tools.
  • Participates in tool/equipment “prove and complete” operations to ensure requirements are met. Understands design-engineering changes relative to maintaining engineering configurations.

Requires a bachelor’s degree and 4 - 8 years of experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • This engineering function works with design engineers to ensure all products meet design requirements and can be manufactured efficiently.
  • Assessing and interpreting engineering drawings & specs, industry/government standards, and information technology fluency are essential.
  • Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Ensures processes and procedures comply with regulations.
  • Knowledge of machine shop practices, capabilities, accuracies and limitations.
  • Trained and efficient in Geometrical, Design, and Tolerancing
  • Training or experience in a CAD software such as NX, CREO, Catia, etc
