Toro’s Irrigation and Lighting business is located in Riverside, CA. The Toro Company’s irrigation business is comprised of two distinct brands, Toro® and Irritrol®. Both brands offer a full line of solid, dependable, irrigation products including controllers, sensors, valves, spray heads and rotors to help customers care for golf courses, sports fields, public green spaces, commercial and residential properties. Unique Lighting Systems is a leading brand of professional grade lighting fixtures, low voltage transformers, LED lamps and the patented HUB system for installation. Serving both residential and commercial markets, Unique Lighting Systems offers a full line of outdoor lighting products.

As the Mechanical Technician III, you will perform routine, preventative, and emergency maintenance and repair on the building, mechanical equipment, and utility systems.

1st Shift: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM, Monday-Friday

Starting Pay: $36.61 per hour

What Will You Do?

  • Performs minor and major repair of electrical, structural, plumbing, HVAC, and equipment.

  • Performs preventive maintenance procedures on electrical, structural, plumbing, HVAC, and equipment.

  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop equipment, i.e. welder, lathe, mills, etc.

  • Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.

  • Paints interior and exterior walls.

  • Assembles and moves furniture, hangs pictures, moves and sets up tables and chairs.

  • Interfaces with vendors to purchase parts supplies, equipment, and materials necessary to complete projects.

  • Coordinates tasks to be performed by outside contractors and monitor the work of outside contractors.

  • Administers facility janitorial service.

  • Uses material handling equipment to load/unload and transport equipment, supplies, materials, etc.

What Do You Need?

  • Education: High school diploma or GED. Completion of a formal apprenticeship or associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred.

  • Experience: 5+ years of related experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair.

  • Training: Electrical, electronic, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC repair and concepts. Various machinist equipment, i.e., mills, lathes, CNC, welder, etc. Powered industrial truck and manual material handling equipment.

  • Computer Skills: Must have the ability to effectively use a personal computer and associated software.

  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend instructions and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as fractions, percentages, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

  • Reasoning Skills: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to read, comprehend, and apply local, state, and national electrical, building, and environmental codes and regulations.

  • Certificates, Licenses: Valid California driver’s license. Powered industrial truck operator.

  • Other Skills and Abilities: Must have the ability to effectively use various electronic, hand, and power tools, pneumatic tools, mechanical equipment, and metal fabrication. Ability to read and understand schematics and blueprints.

  • Physical Conditions: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
