Blue Chip Talent, in partnership with an advanced manufacturing organization, is seeking a skilled Joining Test Technician. This role is responsible for supporting mechanical testing activities, evaluating assembly and fastening systems, and assisting engineering teams with product validation and quality improvement initiatives. The position plays a key role in ensuring reliable product performance throughout development and production.
Job Duties
- Assist engineering teams in evaluating joint designs and improving mechanical assembly quality
- Perform fastener and joint testing to collect torque and tension performance data
- Support root cause investigations and failure analysis activities for manufacturing and field-related issues
- Assist supplier qualification and validation efforts related to fastening systems and standard components
- Inspect components against engineering drawings and specifications to verify conformance
- Provide production support for assembly tooling and installation processes during prototype and pre-production builds
- Operate laboratory equipment to conduct mechanical testing, materials characterization, and sample preparation
- Perform preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment to ensure operational readiness
- Maintain laboratory organization, inventory, consumables, and sample tracking systems
- Generate clear test reports and communicate findings to engineering teams
Skills & Experience
Required
- Experience working in a laboratory or testing environment with strong adherence to safety procedures
- Experience operating machine shop equipment including band saws, drill presses, belt sanders, lathes, and milling machines
- Knowledge of mechanical fastening systems and assembly validation processes
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and component specifications
- Familiarity with automotive or industrial materials including metals, plastics, adhesives, sealants, and composites
- Experience supporting manufacturing, mechanical testing, materials testing, or quality-related activities
- Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent hands-on experience in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Materials Science, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field
Desired
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline
- Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) methodologies
- Experience supporting advanced vehicle, transportation, or large-scale manufacturing products
- Familiarity with issue tracking or ticketing systems such as Jira
- Experience using torque wrenches, nutrunners, and production fastening equipment
- Exposure to supplier quality, validation, or qualification activities
- Experience supporting root cause corrective action (RCCA) investigations and failure analysis efforts
