 Position Overview:

As a Mechanical Project Engineer on our Machine Division team, you'll lead the design and development of advanced mechanical, pneumatic systems and fixtures for automated machines. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that exceed customer expectations, leveraging your expertise in mechanical design, creativity and assembly to bring innovative concepts to life. This role offers the opportunity to manage high-impact projects, integrate emerging technologies, and contribute to continuous improvement in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

 Essential Functions & Responsibilities:   

  • Partner with Engineering and Machine Division Managers, Controls Engineers, Assembly, and Process Technicians to align on project specifications, machine processes, and functionality requirements.
  • Create detailed engineering designs using SolidWorks and DraftSight to fulfill quoted specifications. 
  • Innovate and develop mechanical, pneumatic, and heating systems, along with subassemblies and fixtures for automated machine systems, tailored to customer needs and Fusion's concepts.
  • Engage directly with customers to refine project specifications and ensure seamless execution.
  • Manage multiple projects while providing support across Fusion teams; establish, monitor, and control project plans, expenditures, and timelines.
  • Research, source, and integrate cutting-edge technologies to enhance mechanical design efficiency and assembly processes.
  • Develop comprehensive instructions for assembly, operation, and troubleshooting to support smooth implementation.
  • Deliver expert technical support to Field Service and Process Development teams, resolving customer issues in-house, remotely, or on-site at customers’ facilities.
  • Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to secure high-quality outsourced manufacturing and competitive quotes.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Manufacturing, and other departments on shared initiatives and strategic goals.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, analyzing developments to recommend innovative applications and improvements; research new markets and designs as needed.
  • Establish and refine standardized practices for design, machine processes, component selection, requisition, assembly, and installation.
  • Adhere to Fusion's Quality Policy, ISO 9001 standards, and established procedures; actively seek opportunities for continuous process improvement.
  • Uphold all safety rules and regulations to foster a secure and safe work environment.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned, contributing to our team's overall success.

 Essential Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience/education 
  • 5 years’ mechanical engineering design experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and DraftSight design tools
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to make decisive, informed judgments in dynamic situations.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Microsoft Project, SolidWorks and Auto CAD or DraftSight
