About you and this role -

Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Maintenance Planner located in Deer Park, TX.

In this role, you will create job packages for exchangers, columns, piping, and rotating equipment. The job scope is to contain all the information regarding required labor material and services to ensure safe, effective and efficient execution of the work. Requires broadened technical skills in analytical/scientific methods or operational processes to perform a defined array of activities. May act as an informal resource for team members with less experience.

Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Uses feedback from the person doing the work to optimize the work plans.

  • Reviews work orders for technical completeness and return work orders to gatekeeper, if not complete.

  • Creates job plans and packages that contains details of the work to be performed and includes, pictures, procedures, EMETL Documents, man hours needed to complete the job and the correct labor resources.

  • Carries out field checks, when needed.

  • Prepares job package and inputs plan into SAP indicating the required resources, materials, and services to upload in the daily maintenance schedule.

  • Identifies task activities necessary to execute job plan and identifies materials/tools/equipment required to perform tasks.

  • Identifies/solicits safety information and requirements necessary to safely perform tasks. Ensure Life Critical Safety Standards are identified in the job plan.

  • Supports Maintenance Procedure Use Policy by ensuring all job packages include a procedure or the task is on the Procedure Exemption list before the job package is released. Checks that all Maintenance Procedures include a hazard assessment.

  • Serves as a technical resource during procedure creation and review, as needed. Creates, develops, changes, updates job procedures and checklists, and initiates procedure Management of Change (MOC), as required.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED

  • 3 or more years of relevant experience within a Chemical Manufacturing environment

  • 3 or more years of planning experience in SAP or similar maintenance planning software

  • Successful candidates must be able to work 10-hour daily schedule and work overtime as required, including Holidays and Weekends

  • Must have valid US Driver’s License.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Your Skills:

Communication: The ability to clearly exchange information with operations, maintenance, engineering, and contractors to ensure job plans are well understood and executed safely and efficiently.

Maintenance Planning: The capability to create, develop, optimize, and manage job packages that ensure safe, effective, and efficient maintenance execution.

Safety Standards: The knowledge of and adherence to Dow’s Life Critical Standards, Maintenance Procedure Use Policy, and hazard‑identification expectations to ensure all work can be performed without harm.

Fixed Equipment: Knowledge of and ability to plan maintenance for stationary equipment such as piping, pressure vessels, columns, and heat exchangers.

Rotating Equipment: The understanding of and ability to plan maintenance for mechanical systems that involve moving components—such as pumps, compressors, turbines, gearboxes, blowers, and motors.

Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations

  • Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE), such as earplugs, goggles, respirators, steel-toed shoes and may include usage of harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300lbs.

  • Perform frequently bending, reaching, and lifting.

  • Climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground, including tight and closed in spaces.

  • Stand or walk for extended periods of time.

  • Lift a maximum of 50 lbs.

  • This role does involve elevated work greater than or equal to four feet above the ground.
