POSITION SUMMARY: The Maintenance Mechanic position requires an individual to be a competent maintenance mechanic with basic electrical knowledge. Proficient knowledge of mechanical equipment in an industrial plant is required, including, but not limited to rotary kilns, ball mills, various conveyors, air compressors, hydraulic systems, dust collectors. Working knowledge of 480V power distribution and motor control systems is preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:
- Perform inspections, repairs, and rebuilds on all plant operating equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks on the mechanical systems including inspection and lubrication
- Knowledge of rotary kiln & ball mill maintenance is desired
- Routine replacement of bearings, idlers, dust collector bags, gearboxes, and drive belts will be required
- Initiate work orders as required
- Understand the installation and maintenance of all types of bearings
- Perform shaft alignments using precision tools
- Must be able to disassemble and rebuild all types of crushing, screening, and conveying equipment
- Able to use equipment manuals, parts lists or blueprints to properly install, repair, or order parts
- Ensure all inventory parts are correctly charged from storeroom
- Ensure all parts are available before starting job
- Must be well versed on all aspects of safety
- Complete and document Workplace Inspections in a timely manner
- Ensure maintenance tools are kept in good condition, repaired or replaced when necessary
- Possess knowledge of the CMMS System to ensure that work orders & checklists are completed accurately
- Willingness to upgrade skills by participating in company-designated training
- Must comply with company, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations, policies and procedures at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED ATTRIBUTES:
- Must be able to work any shift, overtime, be on-call, or work seven days a week including holidays and be flexible to schedule changes
- Industrial background with good troubleshooting skills
- Must be able perform basic mathematical computations
- Ability to detect potential problems through observation in the field
- Must have a telephone and be open to call-outs
- Proven self-direction abilities
- Good analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects and meeting all required deadlines
- Must be a team player who works well with others
- Must be open minded, willing to learn, and receptive to change
- Strong record of attendance reliability
- Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with supervisors and peers
- Must know, understand and observe all department and plant safety rules and maintain a high level of housekeeping in assigned work areas
- Basic computer skills desired
- Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as work orders, blue prints, mechanical drawings, safety rules, standard operating procedures, maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals
- Knowledgeable of current environmental regulations and practices as they relate to the lime industry
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Must be physically able to perform work assigned
- Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations
- Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels
- Will be working at times in covered environment but mainly in a lime/mineral environment
- The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Lime/Mineral Particles
- Ability to occasionally lift/carry 50 pounds

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
PREFFERED EDUCATION:
- Technical training or associate degree in a technical or industrial field.Completion of an apprenticeship program, technical program, or equivalent experience in industrial background.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- 3-5 years mechanical experience including welding, equipment alignments, equipment troubleshooting, reading blueprints and mechanical drawings.
PREFFERED EXPERIENCE:
- Previous heavy manufacturing maintenance and/or mining maintenance experience is highly preferred.
