Job Summary

This position reports to the Mechanical Integrity Program Manager and is responsible for implementing the requirements of the mechanical integrity program at the Cherokee facility. The candidate will assume the responsibility of all facets of managing the integrity of fixed equipment, piping, and structures. This position is responsible for adhering to all federal and state regulations.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Manage the Inspection Management Database System (IDMS) which is currently PCMS for all fixed equipment, piping, and safety valves for the facility.
  • Ensure that all inspections are completed on or before their due date or have a documented deferral in place.
  • Participate in and provide leadership in damage mechanism reviews, development of corrosion circuits, and establishment of Integrity Operating Windows to recognized codes and standards for the facility.
  • Perform and/or supervise fitness for service calculations, as needed, for pressure equipment.
  • Lead and participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis studies for events involving pressure equipment.
  • Champion Management of Change regarding any pressure system.
  • Perform and/or manage piping hanger and structural support inspections per MI schedule.
  • Maintain inspection and test reports (electronic and hard copy formats, as applicable) for mechanical integrity of process piping, vessels, and tanks.
  • Supervise 3rd party inspectors during outages and other scheduled assignments.
  • Interpret NDT reports to assess equipment condition and provide corrective actions as required.
  • Maintain proficiency with PCMS for inspection scheduling and status reporting.
  • Perform basic code calculation for pressure vessels, piping, and tanks as needed.

Qualifications


  • 5 years’ experience in a related role (preferred).
  • One or more of API 510, 570 and 653 certificates are a plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Working knowledge of ASME, API, ASNT, and other codes and standards
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and red line P&IDs and PFDs.
  • Basic knowledge of non-destructive techniques and equipment used for testing.
  • Basic knowledge of common pressure equipment components.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, including OSHA, EPA, etc.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Highly organized, with a focus on process and time management discipline.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and attention to detail are required.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Primary duties accomplished by walking/touring safe areas of chemical plant processes which includes ambient conditions of temperature and humidity. Additional requirements include gaining access to piping, vessels, and tanks both internally and externally using ladders, man-lifts, cranes, and other means as required.
  • Secondary duties accomplished within an office environment, to include air-conditioned setting with appropriate ergonomic computer, desk, chair, lighting, and hard copy file cabinets and drawers.
  • Willingness to work around dust, chemicals, high pressure, high temperature, loud noises, and running equipment.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel toed boots, long sleeve shirt, face shield, and hearing protection).
