Job Summary:
The Engineering Intern will support the development and design of pump components and systems using 3D CAD modeling, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and engineering drawings. This role involves collaboration with the Production and Sales departments, ensuring all assignments are completed accurately and on time to maintain the highest quality and customer satisfaction standards.
Primary Job Duties:
- Develop 3D models for products, ranging from individual components to full assemblies.
- Create detailed engineering drawings based on models, including casting, machining, and general arrangement drawings for submittal.
- Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other engineering calculations to validate component designs.
- Learn and adhere to the engineering department’s documentation processes, managing drawing requests from start to finish.
- Gain an understanding of pump industry best practices and the product offerings at American-Marsh Pumps.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or other relevant discipline; Junior or Senior level students preferred.
- Fundamental proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor Professional, SolidWorks, or other solid modeling software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to minimize complexity and streamline processes.
- Strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, both independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of machining and fabrication processes.
- Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals.
