Job Description:

The Department of Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering is looking for a dependable and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant II to support our faculty, staff, and students.

If you like variety in your work and being the go-to person for getting things done, this could be a great fit for you.

What You’ll Do:

  • Keep the office running by managing supplies, mail, shared equipment, and classroom support.
  • Support student workers by tracking time, correcting records, and communicating with HR, payroll, and faculty.
  • Coordinate events by arranging catering, booking rooms, and handling logistics for everything from small meetings to department celebrations.
  • Manage access and tech needs, including key distribution and phone/data line requests.
  • Assist faculty committees with scheduling, tracking outcomes, and preparing materials.

Job Details:

  • Full-time, on-site position located in Ames, Iowa.
  • Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Occasional flexibility may be needed for event support.
