Role Summary:

The role of Technical Support Engineer will be to work closely with Sales, Application Engineering, and Cooper’s Internal and External Customers to ensure that customer’s requirements are met. In this role you will work systematically to make informed decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.

The Project Engineering Support role is based out of Cooper Machinery’s Port Northwest Office in Houston, TX. The Project Engineering Support role is responsible for the technical accuracy and quality of mechanical drawings, BOMs, and delivery of all the client’s engineering needs. As a Project Engineer Support in Cooper’s Engineering department reporting to the Legacy Equipment Engineering Manager, you will play a critical role in engineering development, maintaining schedules, quality, client specifications, design drafting packages, and new approaches to streamline deliverables, as well as editing and reviewing various high-level content. You will also be responsible for supporting other internal clients, including Project Managers, Product Managers, Sales, Marketing and Application Engineering on various needs specific to gas compression projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Must be familiar with the design and operations of reciprocating compressors and internal combustion engines and their sub-assemblies.
  • Must have a strong background in gas compression and willingness to support cross-functional teams.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers during issue resolution.
  • Must possess excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Must possess a strong desire to learn, investigate, and solve technical issues on reciprocating engine and gas compression equipment.
  • Must have the ability to lead assigned projects as a project engineer for engine and compressor overhauls and upgrades.
  • Must be humble, willing to accept responsibility, and work to find solutions to complex technical issues.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or another engineering discipline with mechanical work experience.
  • Minimum 8 years of mechanical engineering experience with 3 of these years in the oil and gas industry.
  • Have knowledge of oilfield, production facilities, and compression operations.
  • Ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships with customers.
  • Reciprocating equipment experience in engines and or compressors.
  • Demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Commitment to safety, customer service quality and to work in team-oriented environment.
  • Prior experience that demonstrates a strong work ethic and ability to multi-task.
