Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer II to join our Water Group with a specialized focus on Temperature Control Units (TCUs). The Mechanical Engineer II will be responsible for the design, development, and improvement of temperature control systems, including analyzing performance, troubleshooting, and integrating new technologies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in SolidWorks/PDM and ERP systems (Syteline), with the ability to streamline data flow between design and production. This position requires an individual with strong problem-solving skills and hands-on experience in manufacturing environments, particularly in the plastic processing or similar industries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Development: Lead the mechanical design and optimization of temperature control units (TCUs), ensuring system performance meets or exceeds operational requirements. This includes the selection and integration of pumps, heat exchangers, and control systems.
- SolidWorks Expertise: Apply advanced SolidWorks and PDM knowledge to create, modify, and improve detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and parts.
- BOM & Documentation Management: Ensure accurate and up-to-date creation of Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings, and item data in both SolidWorks and ERP (Syteline). Maintain consistency and troubleshoot discrepancies in system documentation.
- Engineering Change Management: Manage engineering change requests by coordinating with manufacturing or various other departments to ensure timely and accurate updates in response to design revisions or product improvements.
- Project & Deadline Management: Effectively balance design work, project deadlines, and technical support for all related departments, including Sales, Manufacturing, Service, and Aftermarket, to ensure customer satisfaction and on-time delivery.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Interface with electrical engineers to integrate PLC control. Provide technical support across departments and actively participate in solving complex engineering and production issues. Engage with Manufacturing and Service teams to ensure smooth execution from design to delivery.
- Engineering Requests for Quotation: Support Sales and Aftermarket with design and part quotes for new and existing equipment.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in mechanical engineering
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in SolidWorks for advanced CAD modeling, assembly creation, and architectural improvements.
- Understanding of fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and mechanical systems, particularly within temperature control applications.
- Experience with ERP systems (Syteline preferred) for BOM management, item creation, and routings.
- Knowledge of mechanical manufacturing processes such as assembly, welding, and sheet metal fabrication.
- Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve both design and production challenges efficiently.
- Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and requests across different teams while maintaining a focus on quality and innovation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with plastic processing equipment or systems in similar industrial applications.
- Knowledge of ERP systems and their integration with PDM systems
- Familiarity with data management practices and process improvement within engineering and manufacturing environments.
- Experience the design and development of temperature control systems, heat exchangers, or similar equipment.
