JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Mechanical Engineer will work in a fast-paced collaborative environment to rapidly deploy solutions to manufacturing challenges and meet timeline constraints. The individual will be responsible for the design, prototyping, and deployment of both integrated laser systems and electromechanical systems to support manufacturing of medical device componentry.
KEY RESPONSIB ILITIES:
- Conceptualize, model, and generate suitable drawings for manufacturing of tooling fixtures to support existing laser machines and new development customer products.
- Design, draft, order parts, and assemble components for new laser systems and modification/upgrade of current laser systems.
- Prepare models and specification drawings with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles
- Working knowledge and design experience using SolidWorks software for Parts, Drawings and Assemblies. Able to create exploded views of assemblies with a BOM table.
- Self-starter who works well with other engineers in a team environment.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities to meet customer needs.
- Must be organized, methodical and able to prioritize and work with limited supervision.
- Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing principles
- Work with engineering department on integration of components to laser systems, troubleshooting of mechanical and electronic components.
- Source materials/components and various items needed for projects.
- Research vendors/suppliers for better pricing on applications and recommend changing vendors/suppliers as needed.
- Responsible for understanding and complying with all SPG and Dupont safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS: (Education/Experience/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field with 2+ years experience
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.
- Advanced blueprint reading
- 3D modeling and design experience
- Demonstrable experience using SolidWorks and computer modeling and design software
- Good comprehension of all laser systems and their ability to integrate with ancillary components and equipment
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Basic math, geometry, algebra, trigonometry
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Works under general supervision.
- In office environment and on the manufacturing plant floor.
