When products enter the field there are instances where the design does not function as expected or might not meet the demands of the customer. The role of the entry-level Mechanical Engineer is to investigate reported issues, design, and implement solutions with a focus on to reliability, maintainability, and cost.

This role will require the successful candidate to have a foundation in root cause analysis skills, mechanical design, manufacturing practices, and the ability to work on smaller projects or task-related activities.

What You Will Do:

  • Design mechanical solutions with a focus on product reliability, maintainability, manufacturability, and cost
  • Responsible for closing project tasks within the required timeframe
  • Presents solutions in review meetings and participates in review meetings to provide constructive feedback on design proposals
  • Able to communicate with parties within and outside of their own discipline. May have responsibility for communicating with parties external to the organization (e.g., customers, vendors, etc.)
  • Perform root cause analyses and develops corrective actions for in-service issues
  • Conducts/ coordinates reliability testing, abuse load testing and as circumstances dictate, may participate in, or coordinate certification testing
  • Ability to communicate with parties within and outside of the job function at an operational level regarding policies, procedures, and practices
  • Support the implementation of processes or standards to improve new products and continuous improvement activities

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Ability to navigate and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis and field investigations
  • Knowledge of GD&T and drafting practices
  • Knowledge of Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) tools, mechanical design, and manufacturing principles – Siemens NX preferred
  • Knowledge of aerospace materials
  • Knowledge of aircraft seating and certification requirements preferred
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience preferred
  • A university degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)

The salary range for this role is 53,000 USD - 103,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
