We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our Allient Defense team! The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical components and systems. Responsibilities:
- Design mechanical components, systems, and processes using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Analyze problems to determine how mechanical and thermal devices might help solve a particular issue.
- Develop and test prototypes of devices and systems.
- Perform engineering calculations and simulations to ensure product integrity and functionality.
- Review and approve technical drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for mechanical failures or design flaws.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, supply chain, and quality assurance teams to support product development and production.
- Monitor project progress and ensure deadlines and budgets are met.
- Research and evaluate materials, manufacturing processes, and tools to improve product performance and sustainability.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- 2+ years of experience in mechanical design and engineering.
- Proficient in 3D modeling and simulation software (e.g., SolidWorks, ANSYS, Autodesk Inventor).
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, materials science, and thermodynamics.
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, ISO).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and project management skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in product development and lifecycle management.
- Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes like machining, injection molding, or 3D printing.
- Knowledge of FMEA, DFMEA, or other quality analysis tools.
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
- The position operates in both the office environment as well as the production floor.
- While on the production floor, employee may be subjected to moving mechanical parts and may be required to put on precautionary, protective wear such as goggles.
- Some travel required.
