Mechanical Engineer

 


Responsible for Mechanical Engineering responsibilities of a given project including system design, project planning, development and tracking of budgets, customer interface, and establishing and monitoring schedules.


Job Description:

• Design and develop electro-mechanical and/or material handling systems in accordance with National codes and standards.

• Create and modify concept drawings, detailed design, assembly and fabrication drawings; BOMs; O&M manuals; and other related design documentation

• Generate 2D and 3D designs using Solid Works and/or AutoCad/Inventor

• Interact with sales team, assisting with system proposals and scope review (concept drawings, costing, etc.)

• Interact with a cross-disciplinary engineering team (mechanical, electrical, software, imaging) to review, define, and design integrated system solutions to meet requirements of worldwide customers

• Must be experienced in the design of mechanical systems, write design specifications for the purchase of equipment.

• Produce design calculations to verify design

• Travel to customer sites worldwide to participate in concept and technical discussions, kick off meetings, oversee installations, or trouble shoot.

• Potential travel to sister facilities within the US and in India, China and France to work with team on current or future projects, as required.


Essential Skills:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

• 3 to 5 years of Electro-mechanical and/or mechanical systems design experience.

• Superior written and verbal communication skills

• Expertise in 3D CAD tools. Solid Works strongly preferred; AutoCad acceptable.

• Prior experience in a QA controlled design environment. (ISO 9000, NQA-1, or similar)

• Working knowledge of pneumatic controls

• Experience writing design specifications

• Familiarity with motion control products and standard motor/gearbox components

• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude and problem solving abilities

• Must be highly organized and self motivated

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of Tools


Non-Essential Skills:

• Ability to work in a fast paced team oriented environment

• Experience with machine tooling disciplines and techniques desirable

• Familiarity with project management tools (MS Project preferred, Primavera)

• X-ray imaging system experience a plus but not required

• Familiarity in the fundamentals of Ethernet and networking


Physical & Mental Demands:

• Regularly required to sit and use computer equipment for prolonged periods of time to create and revise designs, Bills of Materials, and related design documentation.

• Will be required to sit, stand, walk, bend and work within and around systems in an industrial environment.

• Need to repeatedly use hands to finger, handle, feel and operate hand tools, power tools, and related standard industrial production and office equipment.

• Could be required to lift, move, carry, and/or maneuver materials up to 50 pounds alone; heavier with assistance.

• May need to work or traverse upon ladders and/or elevated heights with proper safety gear.

• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.

• Expected to effectively communicate in person, on phone, and via email and other electronic devices on a continual and repetitive basis.

• Domestic and international travel via air, rail, and car.

• Able to fulfill essential job function in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
