Description
Job Purpose: The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for product development, product engineering, Product Application engineering and manufacturing engineering activities. Responsible for creating, documenting, developing and implementing procedures used to assemble process, test and/or manufacture of products. The Engineer uses computer aided design and development (CADD) techniques to prepare drawings, diagrams, illustrations and schematics for product documentation/literature and all types of publications for the support of Product, Manufacturing, and Applications Engineering projects as required. As well as supporting marketing, sales and service as required.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Perform product engineering development and product support activities as directed. Requires working in a team environment with other departments such as Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, Test, Applications Engineering, Service, Marketing, Sales, etc.
- Working with external customers and suppliers, dependent upon project and program activities.
- Renders new product concept illustrations from free-hand sketches or marketing or engineering input. Makes suggestions to product committee on various design requirements and recommends possible solutions or alternate constructions.
- Prepares new or improved product and component documents for engineering and manufacturing including layouts, blueprints, assembly and detail drawings. This can also include development of drawings for special tools, fixtures, process and test equipment.
- Creates product or component illustrations including block diagrams, schematics, isometrics illustrations, orthographic illustrations and three-dimensional perspective illustrations for use in marketing literature, manuals and sales video presentations.
- Creates exploded-view drawings for operation, service and assembly manuals from product and component detail drawings and bill of materials in accordance with operating/set-up instructions or assembly/disassembly breakdowns.
- Improving overall processes and related issues including process development, scheduling, creating process documentation, product assembly and production processing, problem solving, and program management.
- The mechanical engineer is also responsible for following quality system procedures as required.
Requirements
- UL, ASME, PED, SELO, CE and other US and international standards for mechanical design must be observed as appropriate.
- Four year technical degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering. Industrial Technology candidates to be considered, dependent upon course work and area of concentration.
- Proficient with CAD software for drafting and illustrating including three-dimensional perspectives of documentation to satisfy documentation requirements for Engineering, Manufacturing, Marketing and Customer Service.
