Department: Engineering
R12 Talent is recruiting a Manufacturing Engineer for an established manufacturing operation in Comer, Georgia.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys getting involved on the production floor, solving manufacturing challenges, and developing practical solutions that improve quality, efficiency, and overall production performance.
The position offers a varied mix of mechanical engineering, process development, tooling design, production support, and continuous improvement, with the opportunity to take ownership of engineering projects from initial concept through to implementation.
Working closely with production, quality, engineering, and external suppliers, you'll play an important role in improving how composite components are manufactured.
Develop and improve manufacturing methods for composite products and assemblies.
Design and modify production tooling, fixtures, jigs, and inspection gauges.
Use CAD software to develop engineering solutions and support manufacturing improvements.
Review engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T to ensure components can be manufactured efficiently and accurately.
Support new product introductions, engineering changes, manufacturing trials, and process validation.
Investigate manufacturing issues involving product defects, dimensional variation, equipment performance, and assembly processes.
Identify opportunities to reduce scrap, rework, cycle times, and manufacturing costs.
Apply root cause analysis and structured problem-solving techniques to resolve recurring production issues.
Work alongside production operators and technicians to implement process improvements.
Support process capability studies, measurement system evaluations, and manufacturing quality improvements.
Evaluate new materials, equipment, tooling, and manufacturing techniques.
Create and maintain engineering documentation, manufacturing instructions, process specifications, and inspection requirements.
Support continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
Provide technical guidance and training to production personnel when new processes or equipment are introduced.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Ideally 2–5 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a similar technical position.
Strong mechanical engineering knowledge and practical manufacturing experience.
Experience working within manufacturing, machining, fabrication, assembly, or production environments.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
Experience using CAD software, ideally SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Siemens NX.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
Understanding of manufacturing process development and continuous improvement.
Familiarity with engineering problem-solving techniques such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, FMEA, and DOE.
Knowledge of manufacturing quality systems, including ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
Experience with inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, or CMMs.
Understanding of SPC, process capability, and measurement system analysis.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineering and production teams.
Candidates with strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and relevant hands-on project or manufacturing experience are also encouraged to apply.
Experience in any of the following areas would be particularly valuable:
Composite materials and manufacturing processes
Automotive or aerospace manufacturing
Tooling, jig, fixture, or gauge design
3D printing and additive manufacturing
Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement
APQP, PPAP, Control Plans, and MSA
Process validation and production launches
Gauge R&R and statistical process control
Sensors, thermocouples, transducers, and process monitoring
Low-volume, high-mix, or highly engineered manufacturing environments
Our client is looking for someone who enjoys practical engineering and wants to see the results of their work directly on the manufacturing floor.
You'll need to be comfortable moving between engineering design, production troubleshooting, process improvement, and working with technicians to implement solutions.
This isn't a position where you'll spend your entire day behind a desk.
The ideal candidate will be someone who can identify a manufacturing problem, understand the engineering behind it, develop a practical solution, and work with the production team to make that improvement happen.
We're particularly interested in engineers who have experience taking ownership of projects, improving manufacturing processes, and developing tooling or fixtures that make production more efficient.
Hands-on engineering: Work directly with manufacturing equipment, processes, and production teams.
Varied responsibilities: Gain exposure to process engineering, tooling design, manufacturing quality, and continuous improvement.
Project ownership: Take engineering improvements from initial concept through to implementation.
Technical development: Build experience within composite manufacturing and highly engineered products.
Real impact: Help improve manufacturing efficiency, product quality, and production performance.
Collaborative environment: Work alongside experienced engineers, technicians, and manufacturing professionals.
This is a great opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer who wants to continue developing their technical skills while making a genuine difference within a manufacturing operation.
